The ruling side is concerned with rebuilding life on the surface. They make several rules to make that task easier. One such rule is the rule that every woman must have four children. They need numbers to repopulate the Earth. The opposing side wants to celebrate the fact that they are still alive. They don't want to force anyone into doing anything. They believe no rules should be made forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do. This book is Part 4 in the End Of The World series. The books should be read in order.

How could you end it where you did? I just wanted to pull my hair out and scream. the story was fabulous. Characters were more developed and we learned more about their lives. This series is so unique and great. Cannot wait until the next one.

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Spankings Underground By Jonmontanavega I admit to being a fan of Ms. Burns. She has written some excellent DD books and series. One of my favorites is Have a Heart, about the last years of High School and the next few years for a young woman with a very significant heart condition who wants to be treated ... just like the other students and young women.By contrast, End of the World is a sci-fi series about 5 couples. The husbands are the leaders of an underground bunker housing 400+ people who have survived a meteor strike that appears to have wiped out all surface human life. The leaders in various ways begin to practice DD. In telling the story of life in the bunker (the series in not yet complete) Ms. Burns tells the tale of the developing DD practices in the 5 families. My preference is for stories that actually tell a story, have a plot and - a big plus - have plot twists. Ms. Burns is excellent at twisting plots and telling a story. For those of you who like a spank a page, this series isn't for you.As the author notes - and I thoroughly agree - this is not a standalone book. Start with Part 1.
