Book six in the Chess series
Luke sees a lot in his job as a piercer, but for all that, he’s shy and lonely. Can live-in-the-moment Temple open his eyes to life’s pleasures?
Luke’s a piercer and owns a successful business with his tattooing partner. Despite his job and his inked and pierced appearance, Luke is actually quite shy and lonely, not to mention inexperienced. An event from his past has left him unable to open up completely to anyone and it’s easier for him to just keep to himself.
Temple is a cancer survivor, coming up on five years cancer free. He’s traveling across North America on the back of his motorcycle, just going where the wind blows him. Ever since first being diagnosed, he turned into a true believer of living in the moment.
When Temple first turns up at Luke’s shop, Temple is immediately drawn to the quiet piercer. First he’s going to have to convince Luke that there’s something between them…then he’s going to have to work his way past Luke’s defenses.

About Sean MichaelOften referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organising his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channelling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago".
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

While this one also contained a lot of sex, I found the story to be unexpectedly touching and sweet and the best one I’ve read from the author so far. There is an instant connection between tattoo and piercing shop owner Luke and Temple, the man who walks into his shop looking for a tattoo appointment. Both men feel it and Luke does something out of the ordinary and goes out with Temple. Things move rather quickly after that and we soon learn that as a cancer survivor, Temple has a life is too short so live for today attitude. A horrible event in Luke’s past has left him unwilling and unable to be close to anyone to the point of celibacy for the past 10 years. After meeting, the two men become inseparable and Temple easily integrates into Luke’s day-to-day life. With Temple’s support Luke begins to trust enough to try to let go of that hurt. While Temple is almost too good to be true I liked what he was for Luke, with his unwavering positivity. Even though there was a lot of sex, I found the scenes to be beautifully written and felt they did a good job at conveying the unique connection between the men. There is no real outside conflict other than concern over Temple’s upcoming medical tests and what his future plans will be once the results are revealed. It is clear from the start that the two men were almost fated to be together and the story is focused on them forming and strengthening their bond.I haven’t read the other stories in the series yet, so I’m not sure what part, if any, Luke played in the prior stories, but the book worked easily as a standalone. I recommend this for anyone who wants a light, well written story with plenty of time spent between the sheets.A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review.

Book Review by Leisa By PrismBookAlliance 3.75 of 5 StarsFor original review see The Prism Book Alliance Blog onlineThere is nothing quite like a story about two hot men with significant emotional baggage finding love together – and this is exactly what The Piercer’s Game offers. Luke is a piercer who quietly works at his popular shop into which Temple ambles. Luke, a former victim of senseless violence, is painfully shy and uncomfortable getting emotionally and physically close to other men. He’s kind, hurting, and innocent. Temple, a cancer survivor, is going where life and fate take him as he cruises across the country riding his motorcycle. He knows how fleeting life can be, and he’s determined to grasp his remaining life with both hands, but is also reluctant to maintain his long term medical monitoring and care. These two wounded souls find each other, and there is an immediate connection. Their relationship has an almost ethereal quality – there’s lots of touching, kissing, and some sensually charged sex. Other than their own emotional baggage, this story is virtually angst free. There is little doubt that Luke and Temple belong together, and they almost immediately recognize their unique relationship.Although the absence of conflict makes Luke and Temple’s relationship a bit too perfect and they almost too easily gain their happily ever after, overall this story is sweet, caring, and romantically sensual. I enjoyed this story, which can be read either as a part of the series or as a stand alone. I recommend this feel-good story to anyone who likes to read about damaged and hurting men find love and happiness together.

While I don't normally subscribe to "insta - love" books, it didn't bother me so much this time around. Both of these characters were strong, independent, loving men. But together, they became this whole new entity.Temple was a character that I didn't love right away, but he grew on me. It seemed like he was obsessively worried about eating "raw" and despite him always re-assuring Luke that it wasn't necessary for Luke to do the same, it was just a lot of Temple's dialogue. I think the author could have gotten away with not making the food that Temple ate, such a big deal. I did enjoy how affectionate Temple was towards Luke.Luke was a lover, right away. He was always kind, always willing to help his friends. I really liked his character from the start. His past was somewhat hard - not tragic, but sad. I also liked how his group of friends were his family. That despite sometimes having disagreements, he knew that they would always be there for him, just the same as he would always be there for them. He was someone who, despite their past, was able to let Temple into his life - to help heal his heart. Also, his piercings sound so hot! I would love to see those all in real life. This was a great story - one that held hope and re-birth for both characters. I enjoyed the development of their relationship - and I thought it was a great progression.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.AvidReader
