TICKING TIME BOMB

The Saint Chronica school festival is coming fast, and the Neighbors Club still hasn't figured out how to present themselves to the world. They're running out of time and ideas, but a solution may have presented itself, if only they can agree to disagree.

In order to make their idea a reality, the Neighbors Club will have to trust Yozora's talent as a writer-and her track record on that front is questionable. And while Yozora and Sena are known to squabble, their relationship is now more strained than ever. Have they crossed a point of no return? Is Yozora even capable of seeing the good in the present rather than dwelling on the past? Will the Neighbors Club spontaneously combust before we ever find out...?

(4.5 STARS) Hilarious Gakuen Comedy By Amazon Customer On the surface the story of "Haganai" is that of a typical Japanese "gakuen comedy" genre, comedy based on everyday school life. The difference is that most characters (including one teacher) are "misfits" at high school St. Chronica Academy, who are not very good at making friends. The comic begins with the "yaminabe" ("nabe in the dark") episode, a prologue in which the club members and advisor are introduced. If you find it confusing, skip it and go directly to the first episode. The protagonist is a male transfer student Kodaka, who overhears his classmate Yozora, a girl always looking grumpy, talking to her "air friend." Then Yozora forms "Neighbors Club" so that she can recruit those who are inept at making friends, and the first one to join, albeit reluctantly, is Kodaka himself, who is often mistaken for a delinquent. The comic's premise reminds us of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" and "Toradora!" and like these popular series (both started as hit light novels) the strength of "Haganai" lies in the two strong-minded heroines, Yozora Mikazuki and Sena Kashiwazaki. The club's activities (like playing a dating sim game) often results in hilarious and unpredictable consequences.Seven Sea Entertainment's comic "Haganai," illustrated by Itachi, is based on the on-going light novel series by Yomi Hirasaka. "Haganai" (four-syllable abbreviation frequently used in Japanese anime/manga) stands for "Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai" ("I Don't Have Many Friends"), which is the original title of the hit novel/anime/manga. Illustrator Itachi has a unique drawing style that may divide opinions, as unlike the anime version, the characters of the comic "Haganai" are drawn in an exaggerated way, giving an emphasis on their facial expressions.I for one liked the manga version for the interesting characters and solid storytelling thanks to the simple and effective panel layout. This is a very entertaining read with a few clever offbeat jokes.

I found the plot description above amusing and saw potential for this as a series. I was not disappointed. The plot follows a group of students who, well the title "I don't have many friends" seems a bit misleading as they don't seem to have any friends. One of them gets the idea to start a new club, "The Neighbor's Club," to find people who are as desperate for friends as they are.The first volume does a good job of introducing a few of the cast members (and shows us a bit of a preview of who will join later). It sets up the personalities well and does a good job of showing not only how desperate these people are for friends, but also why they would have trouble making friends. It should be noted that someone going into this series looking for a lighthearted manga with cute characters making friends will probably be disappointed. Some of the characters are rather unpleasant. I do not say this to insult the series, in fact I applaud it for this choice, these are rather damaged people looking for friends, but lack the social skills to keep one.For a first volume, we mostly just get our standard character introduction chapters (which are handled rather well) and there are two chapters involving video games as a way of socializing. My favorite was chapter four in which they play a dating sim game in order to developed social skills. The choices they make in game were utterly hilarious, and I refuse to spoil it here.In terms of the look, the art style is a little rough at times, but good. The style follows many more recent anime in trying to give characters more realistic features, which not only gives it both a sense of reality and also makes some of the jokes work better when it does exaggerate. In closing; it's an interesting start and I look forward to seeing the direction this series takes. Often very funny if you know what you're getting into beforehand. I give it a solid recommendation and will be adding it to my list of series to collect.Note: Funimation has licensed the anime for the US so hopefully we'll see a release of that soon too.

Schef I bought this book out of whim with a gift card I received for Christmas, and when I got it, I immediately started reading it. It gets a bit wordy at times, but it takes me back to some of the things I used to do in highschool with my friends. There were a few times I laughed out loud while reading. I'd say that it is definitely worth picking up, and I certainly plan on picking up the second book. Also, Nabe in the Dark sounds quite fun.

It is strongly recommended to read Blacklisted first for the best reading experience*** Brie's world was turned upside down by two men - local crime boss Joey Genovese, and Michael Russo, the kidnapper of her dreams. Having survived both, she now is looking to pick up the pieces of her life with neither of them in the picture.  But when Genovese's jilted widow turns up at her new workplace, Brie finds herself right back at square one. Reluctantly, she allows Michael back into her life, to finally fix the mess he created once and for all.  Things are never that simple. Michael hasn't got any less charming, and Genovese apparently has no less strings to her evil bow than her late husband.  Will Brie be forever tormented by the mob, or can Michael save the day ... and get the girl?

You could say my breakfasts and snacks have been mostly "liquid". I typically make smoothies daily so I am well stocked with many of the fruits, veggies, and add-ins included in many of the recipes. If you don't make smoothies often, however, you won't have a problem making the recipes. Yogurt is a staple in many of our homes and if you are dairy free you probably have coconut milk already. On to the recipes I've tried.Blueberry Pancake: This was delicious! at under 300 calories it is a huge bang for my nutritional buck. Serving of fruit, check. Protein (12g) check. Delicious taste, score! ~the kids loved it.Coco-Date: I made this from an opened can of coconut milk (dont you hate that?). It was slightly exotic and delicious. I swapped out the vanilla extra for a tablespoon of vanilla protein and OMG.Coconut-Carrot. I made this with leftover steamed carrots from dinner (hey we all have those single serve things that need to be used up!). LOVED it. If Bugs Bunny went on a tropical vacation this is what he would drink.Rocket Fuel: WOW. I made it into popsicles as suggested and my kids had no idea they were licking away beets. Out of this world.I love the whole juicing section as well. I made a totally tangerine drink (with oranges) and it was simply amazing.I highly recommend the book.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A great book with full nutritionals listed By Joanne Excellent book. All recipes are for two servings. You can divide and make just one as I do. All nutritional info is listed, not just calories, carbs, and proteins, but fats, fiber, carbs, sugars, sodium, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin C, vitaA, etc...you get the picture. Speaking of pictures, there are many color photographs of the finished smoothie. Recipes are simple and straightforward. I was a bit hard to get on board with green smoothies, but the Mega Green in here is excellent. The recipes in book use a lot of various fruits, some fresh, some frozen, also greens, mostly spinach or baby kale, cukes, and so on. Although some recipes use yogurt or almond milk, or peanut butter, many use coconut milk beverage (which I like) or just juice or water, lacking protein. So my only criticism is that many recipes are are a bit too low in protein (1-3grams); so I add a TBS. of whey protein to most of my smoothies per serving if a dairy item is missing from recipe. Flaxseed powder, chia seeds, hemp seeds, etc., works well too. These are lacking in the recipes, but easy enough to add on my own.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Super Romantic! By Serry Perennia As my review title says, The Spirit Who Loved Me is so romantic! I haven't read such a romantic love story in a long while. :D And I love Abel!It was quite fascinating to learn about the spiritual worlds and all those planes of existence, and it was lovely to meet all those spirits. The story was also extremely addictive. After starting it yesterday, I finished it all in one go today! I just needed to know what happens next, what happens to Krystal and Abel and everyone. This is unusual for me, as I tend to read at a much slower pace, and take several days, a week, or more to finish a book. But with this book, I couldn't resist reading till the end and didn't want to wait until tomorrow to finish it!In fact, I am especially fascinated and enchanted by Abel and his relationship with Krystal, just can't get enough of it. When Abel is not in the scene, I keep looking forward to seeing him again, and when he appears, I go, "YAY ABEL!!!" But seriously, I can't blame Krystal for being in love with him. He's so charming and there's something about him that really, really entrances and captivates you, that even the reader is affected! So I think Abel is so hot in personality as well as in looks. :) Sorry for putting it in such a slangy way, haha, but I really think so! :DThe pacing, tension, and mystery in the plot were also managed very well, that the story was a really easy and compelling read. (See above comments on The Spirit Who Loved Me's crazy addictiveness. :D)The reason why I gave it four stars instead of five, despite awesome Abel and the really great handling of tension, mystery, and pacing, is that there are quite a few places, especially at the beginning, where there could be a bit more setting description. I understand that many readers, including myself, don't really enjoy reading setting descriptions, haha, but it would still be good to include a little bit just to let the readers know where the characters are. Definitely don't recommend writing tons of setting descriptions, as that would probably bog down the pace too much, but maybe something as simple as two to three sentences of description to orient us?But anyway, thanks for writing such a fantastic, romantic book, and I look forward to reading the sequel! Is there a newsletter we can subscribe to so we'll be informed when the next book is released? :DKeep up the lovely work!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. 4/5 By Keith 'The Spirit Who Loved Me' by Stacey Virginia Longmuir is a romantic teen love story about Krystal, who after meeting her spirit guide, starts to fancy him! And so begins a supernatural high school adventure. First books are always hard because there's so much groundwork to cover which is why I went with four stars, as because it's under 250 pages, I didn't really feel invested in any characters with the exception of Krystal. In saying that, the author did a great job at creating an unsettling yet romantic mood throughout. I did like the paranormal elements and I’d be interested in seeing where the author takes Krystal in a sequel. So yes, I will be purchasing the next book in this series :)

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Very good story, hard to put down! By KendraT Very well written, Stacey! I looked forward to reading this and had a tough time putting it down once I started. I don't want to spoil the plot, so I will review with this: Love the idea of the story, and think this could be made into a movie. The characters were all interesting and I felt the high school interactions to be realistic. I enjoy southern settings in stories and was able to picture the rural setting Krystal lives in. I feel invested in Krystal and the other characters now and wonder where the story is going to take everyone. Thank you for writing an amazing story!

It looked the same, except the last hotel room she had occupied she’d shared with five other women on a college trip. This was better. But she was much more nervous now than she had been back in college. “I saw you and Jennica playing with Karen and CJ back at the club,” Heather said to Chappie, guiding him into the room with her hand on his upper arm. “You two looked like you were having fun.” “Yeah, fun,” Chappie agreed vaguely. Heather had moved her hand to the top of her dress, a motion to make ready to unbutton her garment, but she stopped when she caught Chappie’s tone. “You don’t want to do this?” she asked, glancing over at her husband and Jennica. The other couple was clinched in an embrace. Steven was kissing Jennica’s neck and she was up on one foot, her thigh rubbing up and down Steven’s leg. Chappie moved closed to Heather and lowered his voice. “She does,” he said indicating his wife.” “But you don’t?” Heather asked, concerned. This happened occasionally, both halves of a couple decide to join the club, but the reality proves a little too much for one member. “It’s mind bending,” he said while watching the other couple. Steven had removed Jennica’s dress but left her in her bra and panties. Meanwhile she was busy pulling off his clothes, seeking more. “It certainly is,” Heather agreed. “Would you like to leave them alone? We can go down to the bar.” He shook his head. “Would you like to watch them?” Heather suggested. Chappie said nothing, but continued to stare.

By Allan Sigouin Our family is just getting started with canning, and we've been relying on the old reliable recipes that everyone else uses. I've wanted a book of recipes that are modern and tasty. I saw this recommended from a fellow Canadian food blogger I love, Sweetsugarbean.com, and decided to give it a try. The recipes are simple and delicious, even for the pickiest eaters in the house, yet gourmet enough that you can confidently give them out to friends and family as gifts.

I've found that it's better to check cookbooks out before I buy, because they sometimes require ingredients that I can't find.Unfortunately, that's true of this book. I was interested in it because it's for small batches, but a lot of the pickle recipes I was interested in require 7% vinegar. 5% is easily available, but when I did an online search, I saw either 5% (or lower) or 10% or higher (evidently the stronger versions are for horticultural purposes). So be forewarned. Also, the jam recipes all use pectin. That said, a lot of the pickle and relish recipes look good.

By Laurie @ The Baking Bookworm My Review: When I first received this complimentary book directly from the author my first thought was - "What a thoughtful gift. It's a gorgeous cookbook but I don't do home canning". Why you ask? My hesitation stems from three thoughts: A) canning seemed to me to take a lot of work and many hands, B) I don't need 30 bottles of dill pickles or 40 jars of stewed apples in the foreseeable future and C) the idea that if I don't do it exactly right I'll end up giving my family a lovely bout of botulism. Ain't nobody got time for food poisoning. But as I started to read the book author Amy Bronee started to put me at ease and I found that my concerns were unfounded. She has a very down-to-earth writing style that made home canning not feel scary and actually doable. Bronee gives her readers all of the information they need to feel confident, inspired and knowledgeable enough to tackle the tradition of canning. From answering some basic canning questions to telling her readers what equipment they must have as well as 'nice to have' items to giving her readers a Processing Checklist (great for Type A's like me) Bronee breaks down the canning process. I also appreciated that the recipes in this book focus on small batch recipes (using 4-10 jars depending on the recipe) which is perfect for our family. Her descriptions of the process were so clear for me that making a batch of her Red Pepper Jelly over the weekend was a breeze. The jelly was extremely well received by my family as well as my parents and mother-in-law after I served it as an appetizer over cream cheese. Needless to say they each went home with a jar that day. That first foray into canning was so positive that yesterday I wanted to try my hand at Strawberry Jam before the fresh berries were gone for the season. So I got up at the crack of crazy yesterday morning and hit the farmer's market before the tourists got there. Armed with a tray of 'fresh from the farm' strawberries and some new mason jars I was set and proceeded to make two batches of jam. Now I have 14 jars of strawberry bliss on my pantry shelves which The Bookworm Family can eat and share with friends and extended family. Yay!This cookbook also comes with loads of pictures which are stunning and mouth watering. As I read through the book I started to bookmark some of the 101 recipes so that by the end I had a gaggle of sticky bookmarks sticking out of the top of the book. Yup, I was intrigued to say the least and who wouldn't be? This book includes sweet items like jams, jellies and applesauce including Salted Caramel Pear Butter, Strawberry Balsamic Jam (Wha?! YUM!) and Vanilla Bean Stewed Rhubarb. But there's also more savory treats like Chipotle Apple Barbeque Sauce, Zesty Pizza Sauce, Beer Hive Grainy Mustard as well as the tried and true favourites of pickles, relishes and chutneys. Yes, this book covers all the delicious bases. It's official, y'all. I've been bit by the home canning bug! Canning is a great way to stock up your own cellar with culinary treats made with fresh local produce picked at its peak. Plus you have the great option to treat your family and friends with jars of delicious treats made by you. It's an age old custom that I'm happy to say will now become a tradition in our home.My Rating: 5/5 starsDisclaimer: My sincere thanks to Amy Bronee for sending me a complimentary copy of her cookbook. My thoughts about the book are purely my own and the fact that I received a free copy of the book has not influenced my honest review of this book.**This book review can also be found on my blog, The Baking Bookworm (www.thebakingbookworm.blogspot.ca) where I share hundreds of book reviews and my favourite recipes. **

More than a century ago a prophecy was foretold of a beguiling stranger who arrives as a light but whose heart is besieged by darkness, and of the child who would rise in strength and courage to counter this evil. When the two forces collide, the world would descend into Armageddon. It would all begin in the quiet little community of Capers, North Carolina. Insulated from the rest of the world by the Great Smoky Mountains, idyllic Capers is the kind of place where every parent dreams of raising their child: picturesque, wholesome and unsullied by crime. That is, until billionaire business mogul Noigel Braddock skulks into town. Noigel establishes a technology company that he promises will bring prestige and wealth to the hamlet, in the form of a sweeping global business innovation. Princely good looks and debonair persuasion, bolstered by his Ivy League education, belie his true identity. On the heels of this transformational development for the town, Capers residents Katy and Charles Leonardis welcome a son who quickly becomes known as “Teal” for his striking greenish-blue eyes. While every parent thinks that their child is special, even Katy and Charles cannot ignore the fact that some very strange and unsettling paranormal phenomena have unfurled around their son. Moral decay quickly falls over Capers as townspeople begin committing atrocities they never would have entertained before, and fearful encounters with the unknown take place. When these dark forces attempt to extinguish the life of young Teal, he inadvertently discovers the full range of his unusual but powerful gifts. Once Noigel’s real intentions for Capers are revealed, Teal must race the clock and outmaneuver the older, more cunning Noigel to prevent total destruction of the town's residents. In the process, Teal is tested and shaped by his friendships, loss, love – and his faith.

I think the best answer would come from some of the folks who lived or are living in Capers. A town which was once considered a “world away from the world” now has some strange happening going on.A place which was once considered the safest place to live suddenly has the media reporting one death after another. It seems the presence of evil has moved in this small quiet town or maybe it born there? Katy and Charles Leonardis have struggled with infertility issues for quite some time. However during a visit with her doctor Katy finds out that she and Dr. Leonardis is expecting a child, the countdown to the birth has begun. At the same time on the other side of the lake another countdown begins one that if successful will be the last one between good and evil. A very strong theme about Donum was one of keeping your eyes open as you go through the trial and tribulations of life.Donum was filled with complex imagery, and vivid depictions of spiritual references and symbolism not overdone. What a fantastic story of faith, and our everyday struggles.A complimentary copy was provided by the author in exchange for my honest and thoughtful review.

I found it to be a great read and you will not be disappointed .Dolores Tate

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Sadly Not For Me By E.A. Walsh ( I received this book free form the Author in exchange for my honest review. )I wanted to like this book, I had high hopes but it wasn’t for me.I found it slow going; nothing of major important happens until the last 15% the story. The other 85% was background filler. Its goes through Teal’s life from birth to teenager. I believe that could have been condensed down into the first two or three chapters. For me it was too drawn out. In truth from the synopsis I had the image that the story was going to pick up right when Teal was 16 or 17. That he was going to be fighting this evil that moved into his town, as in he was already in the town when the darkness arrives. So the start of the book threw me for a loop.In saying that, I did quite like the opening, and the way Noigel was portrayed. There was a closing scene where he went into the basement, there was no grand description, but the just the way it was writing gave me the creeps and simply made it sinister. There were a few scenes like that with Noigel, he was the king of being creepy; but, I didn’t get much else from him. This dark creepy king that was supposed to be that main antagonist, was benched for most of the story. It was like he was tossed in for effect every few chapters to remind us that he was, still there.Teal, I have mixed feelings about him, as a kid he was cute as hell, very sweet and I don’t know, more into the role he was given. As Katy, (his mom) comes to terms with the fact that her son is gifted. She does all the rights things, seeks out help, gathers information and knows that she has to prepare him for what is to come. And then it times skips, to his teens, and well, I didn’t see any proof that Teal was prepared at all. In the last of it, he, well, just winged it. That’s something you would do if you MC doesn’t know anything and was just told, hey, you’ve been blessed by god to help fight agents evil, and all that jazz. I was confused and I felt it wasn’t addressed as it should have been. If I were Katy, I would've had him training his gifts from the moment he understand what training meant. And I would've keepings tabs on Noigel; I'm talking border line stalking. (I do not condone stalking in real life).I didn’t much like Teal as a teen, he wasn’t, real to me. I didn’t feel much for him, and at times I found him a little annoying. And sadly he falls victim to the dreaded insta-love syndrome, that most YA's are famous for. Though I don’t know if this is a YA or not, because for a good chuck of the book Teal wasn’t even born yet, so it's like, Adult/YA/NA?Well whatever this falls in, I was being constantly thrown off, mostly because there was so much going on, and not a lot done about it. The crime rate goes up; we’re given snippets of it. Teen girls have gone missing, raped and beaten. But, none of that was explored on; this was supposed to be a small isolated town. When something big like that happens in that type of community, everyone is involved, and not overlook like it would be in a big city. Not saying the police were overlooking, I mean the people; I grew up in that type of environment, so I know firsthand. How many times a week do you hear of murder or a missing child and don’t even bat an eye because it’s not someone you know. Those snippets, I know, were place for effect, to prove that the crime rate was going up; but at the same times I felt them unnecessary, and forced. For the overall plot and flow, it was to me, slow and jumpy. I like books that aren’t too fast, but steady right out of the gate. I don’t like having to read almost the entire book before the plot gets underway, or reading about, a-day-in-the-life. This story spent too much time on mundane life events, too much time on character filler and not enough on the ends of days, armageddon, and Teal. To me before the half way point, the main event, the highlight, the grand explosion should be underway. The middle of the book should be pack with action, drama, and life altering events that gips you so hard, you think days have passed, when it’s only been a few minutes. This book failed to do that for me.But, there is a but, this book isn’t overly bad. There were some emotional events that pulled at my heart strings. When Katy finds out his pregnant, after giving up hope, her emotions were real to me. I felt for her, and I felt a connection. In all, Katy was my favourite character. There was another heart breaking scene between Teal and cotton, oh my heart, I love that dog. I won’t spoil it, because you just have to read it for yourself. The overall concept of the book is original and quite unique. Normally we read about the events after the world has faced its armageddon or apocalypse, but hardly do we read about the events leading up to it. It’s normally backwashed or hardly elaborated on. Yes survival is important afterwards, but what about the people who survived to make sure there was an after? This is that story, the one that gets covered, trampled, and brushed over. For that reason I give this story a three star instead of the two I was planning on before I finished the whole book. I was dead set on the two until that last 15%.I recommend this book, though I wasn’t knee on it, I believe that its uniqueness and originality will appeal to those, who are looking for the other side of that post-apocalyptic the story.I would like to thanks Alexandra Lane for asking me to read this rare take on the end of days.Happy Reading-Emily

Alta Hensley and Carolyn Faulkner join forces for the first time to weave this erotic time travel romance that will have readers fantasizing about being captured in time... and captured by love. Cimmy Monroe has a fascination with the Old West that borders on obsession. She's seen every Western ever made—and those with spankings in them more times than she could count. When she visits a ghost town in Arizona that has been turned into a living exhibit, she is in heaven. But she doesn't stay there long; awakening one morning to find a man in her room who seems to think it is the nineteenth century, that she is a lady of the evening, and who, she discovers quickly as bullets fly past her head, is a disgraced Texas Ranger who is on the run from the law himself. It doesn't take long for Cimmy to discover that she isn't dreaming, she hasn't lost her mind, but that she has indeed traveled back in time... to the year 1880, to be exact. There is something about this odd woman that tickles Jude Buchanan's mind. She isn't like anyone he has ever met before, and although he found her asleep in the bed of a known prostitute, in the middle of a brothel, he knew from the get- go that she was special. And he immediately wants more, wanting to lay claim to her as his own, to bring her to those dizzying heights of lust and submission again and again, and to show her who is in charge when she needs it. Which, with such a stubborn wench, seems to be multiple times a day. With one being captured in time, can they both be captured in love?

A fantastic story with a time travel element that was unique. Cimmy is feisty and full of sass with a love of the old west and a desire to live in that time, I can so relate, and she gets her wish with an extra special surprise. Jude, oh my goodness, he is pure old western cowboy dominate and smoking hot! Together their chemistry is off the chain and their story will keep you turning the pages until the end! Nicely done!!

She knows she needs something different but really doesn't know what to do next with her life. Her cousin's gift is giving her a taste of an era gone by. But make believe turns into reality along with one dominate man in the form of Jude. She is brought home in ways she doesn't expect. Jude is not afraid to to be strong and deliver what she needs. Also, I just love the cover on this book, it's just perfect.

By LB Grant I absolutely love time travel romances and I was so excited when I saw that one of my favorite authors, Alta Hensley, wrote a smoking hot time travel romance with another of my favorite authors, Carolyn Faulkner. Captured by Time grabbed my attention from the start and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. I loved the dynamics of the main characters and am really hoping they write a sequel so we can see what comes next!

Her blood makes her a target. A year ago Gabby Creed discovered she’s a Shifter—a protector of not only humans, but history itself. Shocked to learn her mother may still be alive, Gabby vows to use her shifting abilities to track down the truth, hoping to bring her mom home before her father’s depression deepens beyond the point of no return. The only problem? Gabby's not shifting. The Shifters discourage her from searching for her mother. So when a Shade—the natural enemy of all Shifters—follows through on a promise, Gabby’s left wondering who she can trust. The Shifters who have been her friends? Or the Shades who are ready to give her answers? She might be able to sort through her confusion if she wasn’t also battling her feelings for her Trainer, Michael Pace. But making choices about her mom, the Shades, and Michael might prove too much to handle. Perhaps capturing today means letting go of past hopes. If only she can.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Incredible! By joanna Davidson The continuing story of Gabby and Michael is even more riveting than the first. In Capturing Today, Gabby learns more about her pairing, despite huge feelings for her trainer Michael, and sees her mother for the first time.Beautiful truths just pour out of this book. Truths about worth, trust in God, and returning from wrong choices. The author never preaches her message, but the story illustrates it so eloquently that it will remain with you, tucked in your heart for years. I could read this book over and over and still absorb more from the words on these pages. Who has not felt the way Gabby has--impatient for one's life purpose, craving love from a parent, and sometimes ready to quit in the confusing tough times? Be prepared to be uplifted, have your heart healed, and be captivated by these characters. And be prepared to not get much else done :)I would recommend this book to anyone, because I simply can't imagine anyone not enjoying it. I'm not a reader of this genre at all, but this book has that wonderful addictive quality, as if the pages are lined with chocolate. Tension pulls you through every page--no, every sentence really--to the dramatic ending that leaves me begging the author for book three. Despite whatever else is going on in my daily life, I'll drop everything to read the next book when it releases.I'd definitely call this the best book I've read in years! Great job, Jess Evander.

I thought the first book in this series was beyond awesome (Saving Yesterday), but book two TOTALLY blew me away. I love tight, fast-paced YA romance and Jess Evander delivers it by the truckload in CAPTURING TODAY. Danger everywhere, betrayal, an understandably angry heroine (Gabby), and a hero (Michael Pace--Hello!) that will top the Book Boyfriend List of anyone who keeps track of that sort of thing (ahem.) The ending will wreck you--just totally wreck you--but in a good way. SUCH a good way. (No spoilers here!) I can barely wait for book 3!(I received a complimentary advanced e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest blog review, but as soon as payday comes round the bend, I'm buying the paperback and adding it to my Keeper Shelf!)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Worth the wait! By Kim Vandel Capturing Today is as fun and fast-paced as its predecessor Saving Yesterday, but there’s more to Capturing Today than an entertaining read. Jess Evander digs in to Gabby's character, giving readers a story that will grip their hearts, not just their imaginations. Gabby is a real girl with real issues. She struggles to figure out where she belongs and who's telling her the truth. She fights so hard to avoid letting anyone down when all anyone does is disappoint her.Evander does a fantastic job with Michael Pace’s character as well. He's the kind of hero you want in your story (and in your life). Evander achieves that very hard to find balance of strong and selfless without making Michael too perfect. He's flawed in ways that make him very real and make you love him even more.I also enjoyed getting to know more of Donovan's story, and I'm eager to see how it plays out in book three. I’ll be waiting--impatiently--for the third installment of the TimeShifters series.

Colour is everything. The food you eat, the ground you walk on, and the things you touch. For Neira England, most colours had a negative impact on her life. After arriving at Wyche manor, she is immediately despised by the lady of the household, Mrs. Serena Wyche. But despite the hatred she received, she found good in everything and everyone. Morson, Serena’s son, intrigued her the most. His heart was full of good intentions, but it was clouded by his mother’s cruelty. He needed someone... and so did she.

Book XIII of the Vampire Queen Series (While this title can standalone, some familiarity with the Vampire Queen world will enhance enjoyment.) Lord Uthe, a member of the Vampire Council, was a Templar Knight centuries ago. Even up to the present day, he has attempted to honor the spirit of the Rule, despite the volatile and highly sexual nature of the vampire world. Yet now he’s caught the attention of the Fae Lord Keldwyn, liaison between the Council and Fae Court. Keldwyn challenges Uthe’s emotional isolation and dominant nature. When a quest from Uthe’s past requires Keldwyn’s help to protect both their worlds, Uthe will have to decide whether the Fae male is a gift from God to be cherished and trusted, or a curse that will make Uthe fail the Order he promised to serve all his life.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. An exceptionally rich blend of history and imagination By Jaycee Review by Jaycee for BOOKS 'N COZY SPOTS BOOK REVIEWS, www.Talon-ps.comARC copy provided for honest review. Also purchased on Amazon.comNight’s Templar is book thirteen in the inestimable “Vampire Queen series” by the incomparable Joey W. Hill. Ms. Hill’s writing always consumes the reader with rich characters, deep emotion and enthralling settings, but that she can sustain this particular series through so many books without compromising any of these elements is a testament to her skills, to these characters and to the world they inhabit. What makes this book stand out, for this reader at least, are two elements in particular. While we have been given more than a glimpse into the Fae world in a previous instalment (Bound by the Vampire Queen), this is more an exploration of the quest by Vampire Lord Uthe and Fae Lord Keldwyn, as well as their evolving relationship. Both of these elements combine to further the interaction and cooperation between the two worlds. In so doing, the series is opened up to so many new elements and possibilities that it makes a series fan positively giddy with anticipation.Second, and it is this I appreciate beyond measure, is the almost magical blending of history and legend, with the most imaginary of paranormal worlds. Uthe’s role as a Templar Knight and the quest with which he has been entrusted for nearly 900 years was slowly revealed in an engrossing weave into the fabric of time such that, for the duration of the story, it fit. Perfectly. Vividly. And oh so imaginatively. It was stunning how the small pieces of legend were enhanced when placed in this fantastical world, bringing them to almost tangible life.Longstanding VQ fans will be able to get their ‘squee’-on with a liberal dose of familiar characters, deeper exposure to some newer favourites, and months of speculation as to who’s story is next. And the cache of possible characters just expanded exponentially. New readers will be clamouring for the backlist because no one can touch that place inside a book-lover that transforms escape into a momentary reality, quite the way Ms. Hill can.Night’s Templar is quintessentially Vampire Queen, but the brilliant blend of the real, the legendary and the imagined takes this story to a new plane. Kudos for an exceptional, next-level read.

By Angela Knight If you want some really delicious M/M vampire erotica romance to read, let me recommend NIGHT'S TEMPLAR by Joey W. Hill. Her work is lyrical and romantic, yet there is an earthiness and darkness to it that makes it fascinating reading, beyond that often seen in erotic romance. I am utterly addicted to her VAMPIRE QUEEN series in particular, of which this is the latest chapter. I love the fact that Joey's use of BDSM gets to deeper levels than the kink club billionaire tropes that have become a little predictable of late. And if you've gotten a bit sick of vampires, you'll find Joey's universe a fresh take. Her vampires have a savage edge that definitely ups the suspense angle, without becoming unsympathetic psychos. I recommend them highly!

An Epic Story By DSmamarose Review: Night’s Templar by Joey W Hill(Book #13, Vampire Queen Series)One of the problems that occur in long running book series are that the storylines, characters and plots can start to become too familiar. Just insert character A into scene B and tie it all up with C’s ending. Not necessarily a bad thing if the writing is good, but sticking to what’s worked in the past can ultimately lead to a slow death for the series as a whole. This is most definitely NOT the case with Joey W Hill’s latest book in her Vampire Queen series. Book 13 “Night’s Templar” is a revelation. Ms. Hill has taken the world she’s so beautifully created in Books 1-12 and expanded and enriched it tenfold. Weaving in Historical fact, legend and her own myths regarding the Knight Templars elevates this story to what is best in all great fiction. Immaculate storytelling.Lord Uthe (high- ranking member of the Vampire Council) and Lord Keldwyn (Fae liaison between the Vampire and Fae worlds) have been at the top of fan lists for a story of their own since first meeting the characters in earlier books. That there is an attraction between them has been evident from the beginning. How two sexual Dominants come together in a way that is true to both their natures is the task at hand. The story that unfolds in Night’s Templar brings a depth and gravitas not only to these two characters but to the entire Vampire series as a whole. As a former Templar Knight, Vampire Lord Uthe is a man who has dedicated his life to serving the needs of the Vampire race while still living as close to the Rule that dictated the day to day life of a Templar Knight. He accomplishes this without losing what is true to his Vampire nature. Honorable, Humble and Courageous, Uthe is a man determined to do what is asked of him, no matter the cost. A 900 year old promise and a secret that could end his life set him on a quest in the truest sense of the word.High Fae Lord Keldwyn is the best ambassador for his people as liaison to the Vampire Council. Breathtakingly beautiful, quick-witted and a Master at negotiation, Keldwyn is a force of Nature. He is a larger than life personality, yet you never know where you stand with the man. What isn’t immediately evident is the fact that Kel is just as Honorable and Courageous as Uthe. (And no, I didn’t say Humble, but I will add self-assured)Working together on the accord between their worlds, Uthe and Keldwyn find pleasure in debates, planning sessions and games of chess. The attraction between them unsettles Uthe, and intrigues Kel. Although sexually Dominant by nature, Uthe has limited his sexual interactions with his 3rd marked servant to the physical aspects only. To allow himself to engage on an emotional level that so many of his fellow Vampires have with their servants would go against his desire to live as closely to the tenets of his Templar beliefs as possible. That Keldwyn stirs such intense need in him, both sexually and emotionally, makes his task that much more difficult to accomplish… Especially when Kel insists on going with him.As their journey together to fulfill Uthe’s promise takes them deeper into the Fae world, we are witness to their struggles to find meaning and connection in the feelings and desires they can no longer deny. Their sexual encounters peel back the layers on what lies deep within their hearts. Love, belonging, service and ownership are poignantly revealed to show how Dominance and submission can set our souls free and connect two hearts for eternity.Along the way we meet up with favorite characters from other books in the series, as well as several new characters that open the world(s) of the Vampire Queen even more. No longer limited to Vampire, Fae and human, the number of Supernatural beings that are expanding this world just add an additional layer to a richly detailed place we’ve come to love. Take my advice, if you haven’t read one of Joey W Hill’s books before, run as fast as you can and grab yourself a copy of Night’s Templar. You won’t be disappointed.
