1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Sensitivity By Amazon Customer What a clever story about human trafficking wrapped in a fairytale. Mara was scared but her inner beauty was what most recognized. She was determined to make the most of her circumstances and survive. I love the sprinkle of romance that was in the story, it was beautiful. I love this story and the characters and I was intrigued from the beginning to the end.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Speaking as an old adult, I think young adults might enjoy it too. By KIRSTEN TEMPLETON Not what I was expecting at all. I loved it. I read it straight through in one go which never happens recently because babies, but I just ignored everything else, I was so absorbed. For me it really captured that sense of injustice that pervades adolescence and so it felt really satisfying. A refreshingly unprincessy female protagonist in this age of gendered everything as well. I wish there was more!

I think anyone with even a passing interest in Irish culture would enjoy this novel By Lev Kopelev Entertaining and humorous novel about a troubled girl's adolescent journey. I found the main character to be both engaging and believable and it offered me an insight into the competitive world of Irish dancing which was hitherto a mystery to me! I think anyone with even a passing interest in Irish culture would enjoy this novel.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Bates has given us another bundle of his works to enjoy without interruption By Babs Mr. Bates has given us another bundle of his works to enjoy without interruption. It is a combination of vampires and werewolves that are workable and interesting. The first book is about two lonely "Weres" who find each other at a club explicitly for the protection of their kind and the breeding to keep their lineage from disappearing. Pierce is an alpha and Owen the omega. They have a baby that is sent to an institution meant to raise their young and to give them a living. This is all written in the "Victorian era." The consequences of these two innocent men's breeding are far reaching and the secrets of the Alpha/Omega Club are in danger of being revealed. A Vampire club steps up and helps the Were club hide under their umbrella of respectability. In exchange for this the "Weres" donate blood and semen for food for the Vampires. Owen and Pierce in their quest to fulfill their obligation meet Asher, a sweet and kindly vampire that they have been assigned to and a triad is formed among the three. The second book is about Carmine, a vampire, and Robby an omega were. The Story of how Carmine became a vampire and his life away from his sire is told in this book and Robby and he take their relationship further than the other weres and vampires are comfortable with. The ending of this book is sort of weak, but is caught up with in the third story when Carmine and Robby appear in the Iand catching up with their relationship. The third story was really good and suspenseful with Marcus an omega and Basil the alpha are both scientists and are trying to solve why Marcus has had his "heat" arrested and could no longer breed. This ending is also a little weak and I was left with a couple of questions. In conclusion, I have to say that except for some crossover of modern equipment with the Victorian era and the slightly unsatisfactory ending of the third book, I really enjoyed these books and highly recommend them for others to read. For those who enjoy violence(not me), you will be disappointed. For those seeking love, romance and some suspense, these books are for you. I was given these books free in order to give an honest review of the content. Enjoy! I know you will. Babs

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. ? Ok By Kasy Smith This book bundle is about omega who get to pick there alphas from the group in the club. Most go after the older and richer alphas. This was a good read but I felt more like I was reading a shifter book than a vampire series. It did not read like a vampire story so it was hard to get into. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. No development of any sort By AvidReader72 No character development. No love interest development. Reader has to read "they are in love" and believe it. There is NOTHING to support this information. There isn't anything to support ANYTHING! =/

It is the point that many mature and are able to then after hold responsible and effective relationships. This book was such a great concept on that part of a young person's life. It doesn't make love sound perfect but it also shows the beauty of young love. This is a great and easy read.

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Didn't like it... By JP This is probably the first review of two stars I've ever given to a book... It is a sad day. Especially since I think how the author must feel reading this review.I don't wish to be mean, but I have to be honest. My advice to the author would be: get an editor, study good dialogue, learn a bit more about pacing and how to build a scene... write more for practice and then come back to this story and you'll see it in a different light. But this review shouldn't be me giving the author pointers, but me expressing my opinion on this book. Of course it's just my opinion and although I didn't like it (hence the 2 stars) other readers might actually enjoy it, or even fall in love with it.Story: It was Twilight with a twist. Although predictable, towards the end things finally got interesting... and then it ended. It wasn't even an ending, it was a cliffhanger. This may work with TV series... But it hardly ever works with book in my opinion. If you buy a book you expect it to have a resolution, that at least something, if not everything, gets resolved in the end.But no. The cliffhanger was like the author cut the scene in the middle where the tension and action was at an all times high and then wrote "To be continued." Nope. I won't be reading the next book... is this book even in a series,as in marked as Book 1 of a series. I have seen no signs of that.Characters: Imagine Bella (yes, that one, from Twilight) but goth and with an edge to her character. Granted she has more of a past and personality than Bella ever had, but that's not saying much. What this character's name anyway. I've just finished the book and I don't know the main character's name... Oh, it's Esmeralda...? Wait. Like the author? OK. I don't think that matters much.Esmeralda (I hope 'm remembering right) is in her junior year. She's a goth chick... with no friends. Probably because she just moved to that town. She mentions that at some point I guess. She has a crush on a guy. And after she asks him out they actually go on a date. Which is nice until convenience for the plot happens. On the second date another convenience for the twist that adds some depth to our main character, but not too much.Throughout the story she comes across as this self-absorbed kid that's not really capable of too much empathy. She's not funny. She's not really likeable. She's just a kid I guess.Archibald (the names really didn't click with me) is a scrawny kid with unbelievable strength that kicks ass at High School football. He's our main character's love interest. He's got some charming moments... one or two actually, but not enough to have me cheering for him throughout the story. Just a kid again, like Esmeralda. The story is written in 1st person and that's generally hard to pull off. I didn't get a feel for the main character, I didn't connect with her. She seemed to gain new skills and a past only as it was convenient for the plot and not as a way for the reader to get to know and like her.The formatting was so wrong. It threw me off in the first pages. For some reason dialogue lines are not only between quotes but also in Italics. But not always. And our Esmeralda's thoughts are sometimes in italics which is fine, but other times between quotes and in italics. This makes for a frustrating and confusing read.Worst things: formatting, predictable plot, no character development, but worst of all, the cliffhanger.I was going to give it a three star review before the cliffhanger changed all of that. It's not okay. It needs work and it needs heart and soul and characters that the reader can connect with. Some people might like it, but I can't in good conscience recommend it.

This bildungsroman which is part comedy of manners, part culture clash romcom, follows Sophie Rosenbaum, a 21-year old former child prodigy and now Harvard dropout, who wants to prove to her family that she's "okay." Her plan: become independent from her well-meaning but smothering family by interning at Bergstrom & Bergstrom PR, which coincidentally ran her stepfather's gubernatorial campaign. What she didn't plan on is the plot twist who walks into her life (or rather, her psychotherapist brother's waiting room) in the person of Anton Akhmerov, more popularly known as The Russian Bad Boy of Tennis. Anton Akhmerov, five-time Grand Slam tennis champion (except for Wimbledon, which continues to elude him), seems to have everything — money, fame, and a supermodel girlfriend — except his ranking has fallen to 200 after a shoulder injury. The only thing he cares about is becoming number one again, but getting back on top seems not only difficult, but impossible, what with his temper and racket breaking problem. His manager tries everything to help him get his head on straight: first there's psychotherapy, and then there's his new PR assistant Sophie, who thinks he's nothing more than a self-conceited jock. They might be from different worlds, but as their paths cross, they find their lives inevitably changing in new and unexpected ways. Book 1 of a new adult culture clash romantic comedy series written in a multi-POV he-said she-said style with the main protagonists and minor characters alternately telling their side of the story.

Unique New Adult novel By Lyss C *I was kindly gifted a copy of “Hello, Privet!” to read in exchange for an honest review.*My Review: 3 Out Of 5 StarsThis is the first book in a series revolving around Sophie, a Harvard drop-out, and Anton, a famous tennis player trying to make a comeback after a shoulder injury. One of my favorite things about this book is that it focuses on both lead characters’ growth and struggle with self discovery. Neither are strictly the sounding board for the other here, and with their distinct personalities and voices it keeps each interaction interesting. I’m curious to see how they develop individually and together through the rest of the series, but can wait until the entire series is completed before picking back up again. This wasn’t a keep-me-up-all-night kind of read for me, but it was still enjoyable. There are multiple POV’s throughout the book, not just Sophia and Anton and it reads almost like a movie with the cut scenes between perspectives. Sometimes when authors use multiple POV it leads to a blending of voices that are all too similar, but that wasn’t an issue here. I was also very impressed with how Anton was written, I could hear his accent in my head while reading!A drawback for me was that the writing was disjointed in places with geological locations and chronology making it feel rough and unedited in places. An example is with locations/distances of schools in CA, but I doubt anyone would pick this up without having knowledge of the state - so if you’re not from CA then you’re good :). Because of this I needed to re-read some sections to see if I missed something, but it didn’t detract overly much from my enjoyment of the story. Also, I got a bit lost with the amount of characters at times, and trying to keep things straight when a character is mentioned once and then 200+ pages later they are brought up again and I’m like “who is this?” lol But that may be why the author added a Glossary at the end with all characters and their background. I did not know that was there until the end, but I recommend using it as you read through if you don’t remember a name!I would recommend this to anyone Teen and Up (no explicit/steamy sex scenes) who enjoys new adult stories revolving around self discovery and acceptance, sports, and series so the fun never ends!

By Purduenurse98 4.5/5 stars!!I received a free copy of "Hello, Privet!" by Maria Malonzo in exchange for an honest review."Hello, Privet!" is the first book in a series by Maria Malonzo. It revolves around Sophie, a 21yr old who is adrift in her life, being tossed between her family's expectations of her and figuring out her place in the world; and Anton, a professional tennis player who was once a bad boy athlete but has returned from an injury to work his way back up and improve his image. Sophie is a jew in a WASP home, with a senator for a step-father, a society matron for a mother and siblings (step, full and half) who excel at everything they do. To say she has family pressure is an understatement. She is a child prodigy who has a nervous breakdown (though we never learn the details) and flees to Israel to spend time with her father. After two years and his death, she returns to NYC to resume her place in the family. She is immediately bombarded by her well-meaning family as to what she will do next. Return to Harvard after she dropped out? Join her mother's charity work? How will she apply herself to make the family look good?Anton, a gorgeous and hot-headed athlete is driving those around him crazy. He is basically forced to see a therapist to work through his issues. That therapist happens to be Sophie's brother, whose best friend is Anton's agent. He wants only to win, at all costs, whether it further injures his body or he alienates himself by treating those around him horribly.Through a turn of events, Sophie ends up being thrown into the deep end of PR and becomes Anton's PR assistant. Despite the passive-aggressive and, quite frankly, aggressive-aggressive way her family treats her where she is a doormat, she doesn't take any of Anton's crap. She is different than any woman he has met. She is beautiful but not in the traditional sense. She is short, has long unruly hair, dresses like an artist from the seventies and is ridiculously intelligent. At first, all she does is irritate Anton and vice versa. But they start to see beneath the other's defenses, seeing the person laying beneath all the outside crap. How far will their friendship go? How hard are they willing to fight for what they both reluctantly want? This story is really an enjoyable read. It is the first in a series that the author says may be four or five books long, so character and world development is key. Which translates to a bit of a slow start. However, as we get to know these two and the people around them, it only adds to the richness of the story. The POV changes frequently, which takes some getting used to at first. I love dual POV, but it happens ALOT and isn't just dual. We hear from several characters, which also adds nicely to the depth of the story. We also hear from his fans and the press through blog entries, which is unique and fits perfectly with the story. I especially liked hearing from Sophie's mother. She comes off as so superficial from Sophie's POV, but hearing her intentions toward her daughter in her own words is deeper and helps me to not totally hate her. The other people around Sophie and Anton are interesting and fit seamlessly with the story, adding not taking away from the MC's.Sophie and Anton are not perfect people and the story portrays their journey to self-awareness well. It never feels forced or rushed, it feels organic and real. They are both likable, even when Anton is at his rudest. We learn early on why he is the way he is and what his true motivations are which gives a richer understanding of him.I couldn't put it down. The story ends nicely, no cliffhanger but definitely not finished. We don't hear much about her ex-boyfriend and what happened to push her to flee to Israel for two years. Hopefully that gets out in the next book because it was clearly a big deal in Sophie's life. I only wish that the next book came out sooner!!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This was a really fun book! By marnett I finished this book a day ago, and at the end of it, I was smiling because I was thinking, "Damn! That was great!" and then I was like, "Damn, that's it?" --because there's an itty bitty cliffhanger and I want to know more about what happens to Anton and Sophie. (EDIT: If anyone's wondering, it's a happy ending, but the author hasn't explored the relationship yet so I'm dying to read the next book.)Well, what can I say except this was a really fun book! The author knows how to write comedy, and I don't mean the slapstick kind of comedy. It's more like a snarky, witty, sarcastic comedy mixed in with some heartwarming drama and angst, which is how I like my stories. This is the sort of book that would be enjoyable for anyone, even guys (I dare you to try it and see if you don't like it). It's not at all cheesy, as what I've come to expect from this genre. I think this is also the kind of book that even non-readers will love. First, it’s an easy read, and it's written like a movie. The dialogue is sharp and whip-smart. The writing is deceptively simple and spare, the chapters are short, and it’s funny as hell, especially the articles and comments-- they were so spot on!This book has multiple POVs, like a movie, or a TV show. That can be a problem for some readers, but the writer was skilled enough to pull it off. Once I got into it, it didn't bother me at all. It's narrated by the two main characters, the first of which is Sophie Rosenbaum, described in the blurb as a 21-year old former child prodigy and Harvard dropout, but let me add witty, feisty and sassy to that list. At the same time she's also fragile, having just lost her father to cancer, and she's very uncertain about her future, not to mention feeling pressured by her illustrious, political family to be a success, just like them. She doesn't seem to fit in with her perfect, accomplished and super wealthy family. There's even a funny scene where she's sent to an image consultant (because her stepfather's a senator and running for his second term). The image consultant immediately decides that she's not quite right, and attempts to give her a makeover so she can fit in.She's also constantly nagged by her family to do something about her future, so she gets an internship at a PR firm, where she meets Anton Akhmerov, a popular Russian tennis player. Sophie's assigned to be the PR assistant of Anton as no one else wants the job. Anton is known to be difficult (he breaks rackets and is a PR nightmare) and at first, he seems like your typical NA hero: kind of a jerk, arrogant, a bad boy and a commitment-phobe womanizer, and Sophie disliked him intensely in the beginning, as did I. But as I read on, I realized he's more than that. Anton and Sophie disagree about a lot of things, and they fight and argue a lot which is very hilarious. Some of the best dialogue is when these two fight.I liked that the characters are flawed and layered. Sophie is at times immature, but she's very self-aware. She claims several times that her life is a mess and that she's crazy. She's an outsider even in her own family. Maybe like most intelligent people, as well as being a child prodigy, she feels separated/different from other people, but this only makes her more sensitive to other people's feelings. I think that’s kind of what makes Sophie so lovable as a character: she knows she's flawed, but she is kind to everyone, even to the mean girls at her office. But this girl's no pushover. She can hold her own. She knows who she is, and stands by her principles, cares about causes (in this book, there's a Russian-Georgian War, and I checked…it did happen around August 2008, when this book was set.)Sophie's my kind of character: smart, kind of a bleeding heart liberal who always wants to do the right thing (and also wants everyone around her to do the same), she loves art and culture, she can be opinionated but self-deprecatingly funny. You can tell while reading the book that Sophie is hiding pain that she can't even articulate, or doesn't want to articulate. The grownups around her seem to know it, but they leave her well enough alone. By the way, another thing I liked about this book, the parental figures aren't completely absent from the story. They are very much a part of her life, and we even hear from her mother and brother who give their own opinions about Sophie (through their POV narration). Her parents, her siblings and stepsiblings are all telling her what to do about her life, but that's what families are like when they care. I can sort of relate… I like her relationship with her half-brother James the most. He seems like he's the only one in her family who really understands her.Okay, now about Anton. At first I was a bit confused by his narrations, then I began to understand that he's a foreigner speaking English as a second language. Female authors rarely do a good job of creating an authentic male voice, and a Russian one at that, but the language and the nuances of Anton's character seem so real, that I felt like I was really inside Anton's head. I don't know how the author did it! Reading his parts gave me insight about the pressure on celebrity athletes, how their lives aren't as fun as it seems. The way Anton's parts were written are so completely different from the Americans.' Even without the names before each chapter, I could tell who was speaking. It even includes some other languages like Russian and French (Anton can speak several languages). I asked a French-speaking friend what the phrases meant because I was curious, but there are context clues within the text anyway. Still, I liked that they were left untranslated, because in the real world, we're not supposed to understand everything people say; it reminds me that the world is full of many different people who have a different culture and a different language. That said, I think the novel's theme is about misunderstanding, miscommunication and acceptance of who we really are.Anyone reading the synopsis will think this is the usual, enemies to lovers trope, or the opposites attract trope, and it is, but Maria Malonzo updates the trope and gives it her own twist. To say that it's a cliche is a disservice to the author. In these types of books, you already expect how the story will flow, but "Hello, Privet!" is not at all predictable, probably due to the fantastic and very real characters the author has created. It's not just a romance, it's also about the struggles of Anton and Sophie to make something of themselves.Sophie and Anton both have their own goals. They're not just supporting characters in each other's stories. Anton isn't an object for the girl to attract, and the girl isn't an object to be won by the guy. They have their own struggles, their own problems. I can see what the author did there, because although these characters couldn't be any more different-- they are parallels of each other. They're both carrying the weight of expectation on their shoulders, because of their talent-- for Anton it's tennis, and for Sophie it's her intelligence. As you can probably tell, I really enjoyed this book, but I do have a few quibbles. There are way too many characters, that's probably why there's a glossary. Everyone is beautiful and attractive--an impression I got because no one is described as ugly…but maybe it's because none of the narrators bother letting us know which characters are ugly. So okay, maybe this isn't a quibble.... Also, everyone is rich, except maybe for Sophie's friends Minju and Seth. Although I have to admit, it's refreshing that both of the characters are rich, so this wasn't an issue--they had other issues to worry about. Still, the brand name dropping was a bit annoying, but I guess it's a commentary on the materialism of some of the characters as well as their obsession with status... Sophie herself prefers the thrift store and the creations of her friend Aphro.I can say that the good definitely outweighs the bad. It has been a long time since I enjoyed a book this much. Maria Malonzo is a talented writer and the dialogue just crackles on the page, or the Kindle, in this case.In short, I loved this book. It's perfect if you're looking for some light summer reading. It has the right balance of comedy, romance and drama, the pacing was just right and there's no insta-love (which I detest in romance novels) and it contained valuable messages, which weren't delivered in a cheesy way.

Best Ebook Online Gospel Transformation: Saved by the Gospel--Transformed by the Gospel, by Dale Ratzlaff

Gospel Transformation falls loosely into two sections: saved by the gospel and transformed by the gospel. I believe Scripture teaches that the Christian life is transformed when (1) we thoroughly understand the saving gospel and (2) when we set our minds on things above by affirming the biblical truths of the gospel, namely the “in” and “with” Christ truths, the magnificent and precious promises, and the declarations made to true believers. When we take our eyes off our own personal behavior—the Romans 7:14-25 experience of defeat and failure—and focus on who we are “in” and “with” Christ,—the Romans 8 experience of victory and joy—then the Holy Spirit will work out the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. The first seven chapters are a study of the “big words” of the gospel: righteousness, justification, redemption, propitiation, reconciliation, and substitution. The gospel is like a diamond with each of these facets flashing a fire of a different color. When studied together they reveal the brilliant rainbow of God's grace, mercy, and love.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Dale’s best book to date By Fred Mazzaferri, PhD Despite its flaws, about which he was fully briefed every time during final drafts, Dale’s best book to date is written well enough to edify non-experts broadly, from their teens onward, with the gospel of salvation. It would be still more useful relating the order of and links between gospel factors in headings like problem, solution, result, and kinder on readers employing “atonement” in lieu of “propitiation”.Space limits force critics to treat flaws more than fortés. So I will address major flaws alone, both incidental and imperative, because, for many mature readers, to open a book or not hinges less on content than author facility. The most vexing incidental mars the print edition, pp. 69f. Dale opines that OT texts like Ex. 23:7; Deut. 25:1f.; Num. 14:18; Prov. 17:15 “appear to be in direct contradiction to Paul’s gospel of justification by faith.” I will treat the first alone, where God warns, “‘I will not acquit the guilty’”, (T)NIV. This has no relationship whatever with justification by faith! It is just an everyday legal verdict, lest the guilty escape scot-free.Dale’s next incidental is quite a trap for young players. He applies Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit, Jn. 14-17, to a convert’s entire sanctification, pp. 22f., 130, 141, 145. He grasps Spirit baptism very well, as in pp. 39-41, 156, but fails to clarify that this promise was fulfilled primarily at Pentecost, Acts 2:32f.Still more toxic to his kudos is opining a translation error in Ro. 8:13, NASB. Baffled by the tense of the verb behind “must die”, yet rusty at Greek, Dale approached a scholar. He clarified the idiom, evincing Ro. 8:13’s validity. Despite his assurance, “I do want to be accurate”, Dale ignored his advice except for curiously superseding “incorrect” with the contradictory “secondary interpretation”, pp. 171f.:“[I]if you [continually] live according to the flesh, you will [spiritually] die”, NET, which expands the verb thus: “are about to, are certainly going to.” In context, to boot, a long end-time section, vv. 18-25, includes, “we wait eagerly for… the redemption of our bodies”, v. 23b, (T)NIV.Similarly, Dale wholly misreads Col. 2:16-18a as “legalistic religious practices”, p. 139, that “undermine one’s complete standing in Christ”, p. 138. This should never act even as an anti-Sabbath proof-text since it depicts nothing more than extreme aberrations and perversions of sterling Christianity!Whatever, Dale’s biggest blunder is his protracted polemic to reform converts who gauge sanctification via God’s moral law. Here he shoots himself in his foot from the very start! For James, equally as inspired as Paul, offsets “faith alone” by stressing that pure works evince true faith, as in “the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there… will be blessed in what he does”, 1:25, NET. This Law is the “Decalogue”, 2:8-12, revised, for example, as when undefined Planet Earth updates the promised Canaan in its fifth edict, Eph. 6:2f.This objective also entices Dale into sheer eisegeses which do nothing to bolster his kudos as an adept Bible teacher. For instance, he reads Paul’s spiritual conflict in Ro. 7:7-25 theoretically, as if he were beginning foolishly to gauge performance via the law, pp. 122-124, 149. However, this passage has its very close parallel in 1 Cor. 9:24-27, where he also battles his persistent old carnal nature lest he be finally lost! And Dale is fully aware of the precise import of this arresting passage to converts, p. 171! Ergo, in admitting that “I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, ‘Do not covet’”, Ro. 7:7, NIV, Paul most definitely implies that his assertion, “through the law we become conscious of our sin”, 3:20b, TNIV, is pertinent both before and after conversion.Dale also insists, à la Ro. 8:1: “The law can no longer condemn, even if we fall into temptation and sin[,] because the law’s ability to condemn stopped at the tomb”, p. 125, cf. 129, 149, 173, and, “our relationship with the law… ended… when we were incorporated with Christ in his death”, p. 120. He is only partially correct, though, quite apart from not noting that, in God’s sight, every verity in Eph. 2:1-7 and Col. 3:1-4 was fully achieved as if at Jesus’ own death, resurrection and ascension, not at believer conversion, pp. 133-135, when the universal is treated as individual. For his claim that converts are done with God’s Law, as in pp. 43-49, 118-128, should be qualified by his rejecting law perpetually as a mode of justification, as in pp. 47, 120f.As for condemnation, proof-texts like Ro. 8:1 refer to enduring, universal doom annulled for converts by justification, 5:16, 18, while 2 Cor. 7:3a employs a minor nuance: random accusation, conviction or rebuke. And it has always been true that God’s Law accuses even his devotees as soon as they sin, Ro. 2:14f.; James 2:9. It is also apropos to appeal to the New Covenant, about which God promised: “‘I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts’”, Heb. 8:10; cf. 10:16b, (T)NIV.Then is Dale implying that God performed this radical transplant merely to pension his Law off to absolute oblivion, forever!?Whatever, he finally refines his view under sustained scholarly pressure: “We are not saying that God’s moral principles no longer apply. God’s eternal moral principles interpreted by the Spirit to the circumstances of life continue to have a function in the Christian life. They are imbedded [sic] in our conscience and therefore serve to (1) stop us from doing wrong, (2) prompt us in evaluating truth and error, and (3) urge us to do what is right”, p. 122. He should most certainly have added “(4) rebuke or convict us of sin”.And God’s eternal moral Law does all of this exclusively as a born-again sinner gazes humbly, reverently and non-legalistically into its profound depths!!

Canning is a great way to make sure you and your family have healthy, chemical-free foods all year round!Home Canning and Preserving unveils the interesting history of canning (who knew?), and an excellent overview of the two main types of canning (water bath and pressure canning). My favorite thing about this book is the Watch Out list -- the important tips, do's, and don'ts that will save you a LOT of time and frustration! There are also a pile of recipes that will get you on your way to preserving healthy food without having to guess. I'm going to start preparing my organic vegetables from Organic Square Foot Gardening. Get this book, and get canning!

I grew up on a farm and my grandmother and mother canned all the time because we always had a huge garden as well as fruit trees galore - but for some reason neither of them thought to teach me. I got the basics from this book, but I'm still a bit wary to try it on my own. Guess I'll see if Parks & Rec offers canning classes next summer so I can get a bit more help.

It was good while you're in the zone, it keeps you reading to the very end of the season, but leaves you with a cliff hanger, excited yes, happy to get to the end no still left me wanting more. Which asks the question how many books are in this series?

Still, Clarke tells her own story and builds her own world Easy to read and hard to put down. I don't feel that Clarke needs to end with a cliff hanger to get her readers to want more. Hopefully she won't keep us waiting too long.

From the author of Dangerously Bound comes a new Dangerous Romance—proving once again that Eden Bradley “has a knack for penning extraordinary erotic romances” (Wild on Books)… It’s all or nothing... Growing up, Summer Grace Rae lusted after Jamie Stewart-Greer something fierce. But her older brother’s best friend was strictly off limits. And in time Summer convinced herself to forget about him—until one erotic encounter… Jamie has a dark side, and his BDSM fantasies are the perfect way to explore it. But he’s always hidden his extreme lifestyle from the one person who elicited his ultimate, forbidden passions. After all, Summer has been like a little sister to him for years—until Jamie sees her at the most infamous kink club in New Orleans. Now, every taboo craving they’ve ever had is made real, in the flesh, and sending them on a sensual journey of discovery. But as their relationship spirals into the darkest recesses of desire, they’re both left breathlessly wanting more—and love could be the most dangerous fetish of them all.

From the Author Writing DANGEROUSLY BROKEN has been a particularly emotional journey for me. Partly because of the basis for the entire series, but these characters took me places I never expected.I also wrote much of this book after spending 10 days in New Orleans, soaking up the feel of the city. It's unlike any other city in the world-it's almost its own character-and I'm almost as in love with New Orleans as I am with Jamie. I hope you'll fall in love with DANGEROUSLY BROKEN, too!Meanwhile, stalk me online-I love my readers! Their personal trials and tribulations bring them together and threaten to tear them apart. The characters are enjoyable and well matched. The chemistry is steamy. I've never been disappointed in the authors writing and this book is no exception. If you like some steamy kink- this read is for you!!!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Dangerously Erotic Must-Read! By IslandDeb Eden Bradley/Eve Berlin has long been one of my favorite authors. Her style and voice grabbed me when I discovered Pleasure’s Edge, and I’ve been captive ever since. That may sound a bit over the top, but if you are familiar with Ms. Bradley’s work you’ll know exactly what I mean. You want to climb into her books and live there. Forever. Longing, lust, and flat out overwhelming desire wafts off of her characters! The mood she creates is reminiscent of those old black and white movies starring tragically tormented heroes and heroines. You know the ones...two people destined to be together but kept apart by fate, circumstances beyond their control, and/or just plain stubbornness.Dangerously Broken is book 2 in the Dangerous Romance series. It can certainly be read as a standalone, however, I strongly recommend first reading book 1, Dangerously Bound. It not only establishes the mood for this series, which takes place in the magical city of New Orleans, it introduces characters who are intertwined in one way or another. Besides, Dangerously Bound is pretty damn awesome.Dangerously Broken is the intense and emotional journey of Jamie and Summer Grace as they struggle to once and for all admit to and act on the mutual attraction they’ve felt for each other since they were teenagers. It’s been twelve years since Brandon, Summer’s brother and Jamie’s best friend, tragically passed away at the age of nineteen. Even though Jamie vowed to watch over and protect Summer, his powerful attraction to her has forced him to keep his distance over the years. Unfortunately, he can’t let go of memories of her adolescent attempts at seduction; climbing into his sleeping bag during family camping trips, or waking up to find her straddling him when he spent the night on their couch. Summer Grace was a sex kitten even at the age of fourteen. It was a struggle to reject her advances then. It’s going to be damn near impossible to resist her now when he discovers her sceneing at The Bastille, the BDSM club he has frequented for years."He’d denied himself for twelve long years. How much was one man supposed to take? He’d been Saint Jamie for long enough. And maybe he was going to hell for it - for breaking his promise - but he had to have her. He couldn’t go on like this. She’d sealed that bit of fate when she’d shown up at The Bastille tonight."Even though Summer Grace is thrilled Jamie has finally admitted to the undeniable chemistry between them and proposes they negotiate an exclusive Dom/sub relationship, she’s been rejected too many times not to be wary of yet more heartache. She can’t help but wonder if the only reason Jamie is now professing his feelings for her is merely jealousy and possessiveness. Despite the turmoil and doubt running rampant in her mind, Summer Grace simply cannot walk away. Because her submission to Jamie is organic, and second nature. When he possesses her body, pushes her limits of pain and pleasure, no one else in the world exists. And she knows no one could ever take Jamie’s place. As the story progresses, Ms. Bradley cracks Jamie and Summer Grace open even more. The demons that have kept them from living life to its fullest, from allowing themselves to release the past and their guilt, are revealed. It’s an uphill battle at times, however, this is where Ms. Bradley shines. She has the uncanny ability to craft BDSM scenes which serve to advance the growth of her characters. Her interactions between Jamie as Dom and Summer Grace as submissive are so beautiful, so descriptive, so real, that she can just about have you experiencing a literary form of subspace. Crazy but true.I loved both Jamie and Summer Grace. Jamie’s strength as a Dom is instinctual, which is the only kind of Dom you want. Plus, the man is hot as hell! Summer Grace is submissive to the core when giving herself to Jamie. It’s a beautiful thing to see - a strong, opinionated, capable woman whose trust and commitment to her Dom is without question.Don’t think these two are perfect by any means! They have their flaws, as we all do. As a matter of fact, I could relate to many of them. They both needed to be smacked upside the head at times, and that’s where Ms. Bradley has their friends step in with tough love and advice.I always fall in love with Ms. Bradley’s novels and Dangerously Broken is no exception. From its New Orleans setting full of a dark atmosphere and mystery to the intriguingly flawed Jamie and Summer Grace, this novel wonderfully conveys the beauty of BDSM. No secrets, no lies, where pain equals pleasure, and trust is not to be handed over lightly. Thank you, Ms. Bradley for once again giving us a truly believable D/s couple.ARC received in exchange for an honest review. For more of Deb's reviews, visit www.xtreme-delusions.com

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Buy for the kink, read for the characters By Amazon Customer *Full disclosure, provided ARC for honest review*If you are a fan of well-written, character driven plots with a huge helping of kink thrown in for good measure, you have just found a good book to read. I realized after a few chapters that this is the second book in a series, but it read well as a stand alone (though I'm definitely going to go back and read Dangerously Bound). I've read many books in this genre that are so laden with sex that you cannot really remember any plot or even the characters an hour after reading. While Dangerously Broken has plenty of sex and kink, it also has the ability to make the characters stay with you after the book closes and leave you curious about the other friends who appear in the series.Quick summary: Summer has crushed on Jamie hard core since she was a young teen and he was her big brother's best friend. He wouldn't indulge in her fantasies because she is too young and then big brother dies, so he can't pursue her because he feels like it would violate his promise to big brother/best friend to protect her. Fast forward ten years. Jamie sees Summer at the BDSM club enjoying the treatment he very much likes to mete out and decides maybe he should not be trying to push her away. She, meanwhile, has decided to move on with her life and not pursue the man she has wanted for more than half her life. They find a way to finally come together (several times throughout the novel, actually *wink, *wink) only to have to face some more hardships to test the resolve of their relationship.
