Nice variety of entrees, salads,side dishes, desserts, etc. If you have health issues or just want to lower your sodium intake, you should try these recipes. Our family has enjoyed many of them. The spices and seasonings make all the difference.

By Great Cook, Great Cook Since my Husband has a problem, and has to eat Low Sodium, this book is good for that, but I think there is more to a heart and health problem then just not eating low sodium. This book is only about eating Low Sodium, and in the recipes it shows next to each food how much sodium is in each one, and at the bottom all ingredients which is great, but the recipes have allot Sugar in them etc..Sugar does Clog your Arteries, and is Not Healthy for anyone, If you have that problem.If you have diabetes you should not be adding more sugar to your diet.Stop eating all prepackaged foods. There full of sodium and things that cannot be pronounced.Ketchup is full of salt. Look for salt free on all tomato products.In raw tomatos there is salt, but that is ok.In one of the apple recipes it calls for 2/3 C br. sugar !!.This book does not give you alternatives to sugar!Instead of adding sugar, you can add organic raisons (there heavily sprayed) , a little of real maple syrup,ground Saigon Cinnamon , Xylitol, and the Organic coconut Sugar (very good), If you need sugar.But the truth is when using sweet fruit, you do Not need any Sugar, its already in it.If you put the fruit in a pot, with a little water & raisons, Cinnamon etc,and Simmer there is taste of natural sugar, and its healthier.One of the recipes I noticed called for 12 eggs!..Now we know that healthy fat is good for the brain.But Its proven that Soy Free Organic "Pastured Chickens" that eat Grass & bugs etc, Have more Omega 3, and other healthy natural ingredient in them, then market eggs, even if they say there organic, or free range, which does not mean the chickens are pastured, and there is healthy grass outside.Free range just means, there is a little hole in the wall where there are hundreds of thousands chickens, and maybe with luck 4 get out for at least fresh air, but since there is Not grass or water for them, they run back in..Btw , Natural only means the product is 10%, the rest, Who knows!!!!This book does not go into any healthy foods except eating low sodium.You can find in the market allot of Salt Free seasonings..He does mention Trader Joe's 21 Salute seasoning, very good.. Mrs Dash makes allot of different Salt free seasonings that are very tasty. Target sells them for a good price.Fresh Garlic is super healthy, or any Garlic powder. Trader Joe's has a very good tasting Garlic powder. About 2.00..You do not need salt, and allot of healthy foods, Veggies, Meats, Turkey etc. have enough sodium in them already.Do not buy any pre-seasons meats there Full of salt, or already made roasted chicken.Deli meats and Deli foods are full of salt and sugar etc.Since sugar's are used so much in this book I would Not recommend it.
