6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Fun and Exciting Fantasy Adventure!!! By Whitney Stevens Pretty much as soon as I started reading this book I couldn't put it down! I felt a connection to and investment in the characters and cared about what happened to them. There's just the right amount of action, drama, and romance to keep the story moving and balanced. More than once I found myself laughing out loud, or wanting to skip the next few pages so that I could find out how a particular predicament was going to resolve. Teya and Bran have a nice chemistry that almost leaps off the page and I did sigh more than once. I read the book in one day, and when I wasn't reading, I was wishing I was. If you like a good fantasy adventure, along with some romance, this is the book for you!!!!! It had my heart racing!

You grow to love them and it makes a you be able to look past writing technicalities, but in no way is this bad writing. The main charcater was not perfect and struggled with herself threw the whole book and it makes this well rounded character you can't help but like. The love story was so beautiful, the magic was great and the bad guys really bad. This was just a good story that held strong all the way to the end. This was a fairly clean read some violence but nothing too bad and kissing. The story ends but there is a lead into a future story so I am excited to read it! I would recommend it to adults because of only one thing! and I was so sad cause I want to share it with everyone but their is a part where the man describes being turned on and trying to get himself under control. Other than that one part all the rest was clean!

Each page got better and better. I loved the story line and the plot. I was on the edge of my seat through most of it. The love between Teya and Bran is inspiring. Would recommend this book to everyone. Good job Ms.Helme,you are extremely talented and I thoroughly enjoy your books.

Home Education consists of six lectures by Charlotte Mason about the raising and educating of young children (up to the age of nine), for parents and teachers. She encourages us to spend a lot of time outdoors, immersed in nature and handling natural objects and collecting experiences on which to base the rest of their education. She discusses the use of training in good habits such as attention, thinking, imagining, remembering, performing tasks with perfect execution, obedience, and truthfulness, to replace undesirable tendencies in children (and the adults that they grow into). She details how lessons in various school subjects can be done using her approach. She concludes with remarks about the Will, the Conscience, and the Divine Life in the Child. Charlotte Mason was a late nineteenth-century British educator whose ideas were far ahead of her time. She believed that children are born persons worthy of respect, rather than blank slates, and that it was better to feed their growing minds with living literature and vital ideas and knowledge, rather than dry facts and knowledge filtered and pre-digested by the teacher. Her method of education, still used by some private schools and many homeschooling families, is gentle and flexible, especially with younger children, and includes first-hand exposure to great and noble ideas through books in each school subject, conveying wonder and arousing curiosity, and through reflection upon great art, music, and poetry; nature observation as the primary means of early science teaching; use of manipulatives and real-life application to understand mathematical concepts and learning to reason, rather than rote memorization and working endless sums; and an emphasis on character and on cultivating and maintaining good personal habits. Schooling is teacher-directed, not child-led, but school time should be short enough to allow students free time to play and to pursue their own worthy interests such as handicrafts. Traditional Charlotte Mason schooling is firmly based on Christianity, although the method is also used successfully by secular families and families of other religions.

Typos Leave Me Suspicious By Megan Charlotte Mason's Home Education is an EXCELLENT book and anyone considering homeschooling should look into her methods.But.... There have been many CM series that have been copied straight out of amblesideonline.com, and while I am not 100% sure this is one of those stolen copies, there are many typos and errors that leave me suspicious. I have also seen other books in the series by this publisher with comments saying it was stolen. So be warned: At the very best you will be purchasing a badly edited book.As for me, I will be buying the remainder of the series from a different publisher.

By dickensfan As a homeschool graduate, and author of Homeschooling: The Bigger Picture (your conversation with a homeschool graduate) I know a thing or two about homeschooling. I also know that while things have changed a lot from the times of Charlotte Mason, the way that children learn naturally and are provided with the best "education" is not something that changes over time. This book is an excellent resource and I would highly recommend it.Personally I loved the chapter on foreign language as I studied Latin in high school. The works of Charlotte Mason are truly remarkable and a much needed education in itself.

Mitch Is Such a Good Guy By Anniebug You know, it's totally unfair to heroines everywhere when the heroes of our romance novels are as swoony as Mitch. I mean, patient, kind, creative, playful AND he has a great house. But wait, I got ahead of myself.Courtney is a writer and also somewhat superstitious. She believes her inspiration for her novels comes from returning home to Alaska. She then goes to the location of the book to finish it. Mitch lives in her hometown and is just waiting for Courtney to decide to stay. There is an adorable tradition in their hometown that matches up single guys and gals during "Solstice Days" which is exactly the time that Courtney is visiting. Mitch sees a window of opportunity and decides to help things move along with Courtney.(We now resume our love fest of Mitch - and what's her name) I loved both of these characters. They are likable, down to earth, and normal. The plot of this novella is fresh and cute. I even looked online to see if there was such a thing as a "meltdown match". (please be gentle when you call me gullible) This is a smile on your face, made my afternoon, quick read. I didn't even mind that it was predictable. The kicker for me was that they had known each other for years, had spent several summers together, and never fallen in love before. That was hard to buy. Supposedly they had all kinds of chemistry and attraction to each other, but they had never dated, never kissed, never fallen in love? I found that unbelievable, and that made the book less enjoyable for me.

NEITHER WOULD ADMIT THAT THEY HAD FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER FOR YEARS By Dorothy Hendrickson Courtney is a writer and has published several books already. She has always traveled to live in different states to write her books thinking that is where she has has gotten her inspirations from. There is a solstice contest and Courtney and Mitch win it the theory is whoever wins the contest will marry. I think you will really enjoy this story as much as I did.

Uplifting By MyHumbleOpinion This book is not just for people who are interested in a story about a woman who triumphed over cancer (although this part of the story is a great one). It is ostensibly a story about the will survive, the power of faith, and the beauty of family. However, I would probably describe this story more specifically as a miracle. There are so many variables, so many details, so many random people in the author’s life that set her on a track that changed her destiny time and time again. I feel that the story can translate to a crisis in anyone’s life. The author’s optimism and vision is inspiring. Without being preachy or religious – she manages to write a book that has done more for me than volumes of self help books about the power of now, how the universe conspires for our success, and the law of attraction. This book is a course in miracles, yet the author doesn’t take herself that seriously. Told in short chapters with song titles, she feels free to be herself while telling a sacred story. This book should be required reading for doctors, insurance companies, politicians, and parents. I say parents because I feel this book is a tribute to her family. The one she came from and the one she created. This book got me thinking a lot about how the relationships we have with family and friends may be as important, or perhaps more important, than any relationship we have with doctors. What a powerful reminder!

DeAnn Morris My favorite genre is memoir.This is a gentle, sweet memoir which might seem odd for me to say since the topic is recovery from an aggressive breast cancer: triple negative. I was stunned early in the book to read that the cancer was triple negative. Catching it early, at Stage 1, certainly was in Stephanie's favor.But it IS a gentle and sweet retelling of a challenging time in Stephanie's life. Stephanie's honesty and openness about her anger, fear, and confusion is balanced by her descriptions of a wonderful husband, mother and sister who always have her back and the perfect thing to say to steady her when she starts to panic.I was troubled by some of the difficulties Stephanie and Grant faced with the medical profession. When one is facing monumental health issues such as an aggressive cancer, to have these problems compounded by the intransigence of the medical profession just does not seem right. Grant turns out to be an amazing advocate!The book is as much about how important it is to have a committed advocate when one is diagnosed with a catastrophic illness as about the illness itself.That Stephanie beat back this cancer and crossed the five year survival threshold makes this reader very happy!

Only days later, she learns she is pregnant, and the doctors advise her to abort the fetus. How much stress can one person handle? As Stephanie leads us through the emotional battles she faces, she tugs at our hearts; by telling her story with humor, she adds a depth that makes us cheer her on all the more. Details ground the story and provide insight into the challenges cancer patients encounter—compound that by a pregnant cancer patient. When those challenges become overwhelming, Stephanie relies on support from her husband, mother, and sister among others. She reminds how important support is to a friend or loved one. A well-written, inspirational memoir!

I stayed up all night reading it. I am glad I didn't give up on the series. If you are a fan of the Colsons you might enjoy this I certainly did.

I grew up with my Grandparents as an only child; therefore, I always needed something to entertain me. Remember, in the late 1930s through the early 1950s, when radio was our only source of entertainment? So early on, Granddad told me stories to entertain me. As a child and later, as an adult, I loved these stories. Of course, Sunday church was considered a must and this was a big part of our social life. My Grandfather was a preacher, but his day job was farming or working in the fields to feed us and earn money. His preaching didn’t earn him anything. My Grandmother had the first beauty shop in Henderson County, but if the depression had not come along, she might have been much more successful. In order to make ends meet, my Grandfather would often pick cotton or farm on the halves. I personally never remember being hungry, but I did hear many stories of how, in the lean days, the Henderson’s had very little in the way of food. When my Dad and his brother were small, flour and water had to suffice for supper. Before we go any farther, I need to describe my Granddad to you. He was born in Mississippi, somewhere near Holly Springs, and he had two sisters and six brothers. He was born May 13, 1886, and was born slap dab in the middle of nine children with four older and four younger. He was also the runt. His Mother died when he was 11-years old and he had to care for his younger siblings, while his Father and older brothers went to work in the fields. He learned how to cook and take care of the housework out of necessity. His parents gave him a first name, Oscar, but no middle name. His brothers nicknamed him “Thunderbolt” because they said he could pass gas louder than anyone. Since he was the runt, he grew up having to defend himself. Perhaps this contributed to his hard-headedness and stubbornness. He and his brothers were always pulling pranks and jokes on one another. After his Mother died, there was no real womanly influence and many of the pranks were often crude. When Oscar was full grown, his height was about 5’ 3” and his weight not more than 120-lbs. soaking wet, but he was as tough as a boot. During his early boyhood days, at night he would set by the fireplace (as the only light available) and read the Bible. In this manner, he became very proficient with God’s word and became a lifelong reader. Because of this, I grew up surrounded by books and stories about Granddad’s youth and his preaching.

When I saw this title in the newsletter, I was especially pleased and couldn't wait to read it. It's always exciting to discover that one of my favorite authors has a new book out. And Brooklyn June is never a disappointment. It never takes long to get to the action and the scenes in between always keep you captive. Now, if I was Sheba, I'd like to think I would have done exactly what she did, but without hesitation. Reno would have been my first call and then we could figure it out together. I was really hoping she wasn't going to be dirty, unlike others in Reno's life. That really got me. Just when I thought I had this all figured out, I was thrown for a loop and then another one and then another one. It was great! Now those two jokers at the end... wow! I hope they get what's coming to them. At least it looks like one of them will. I can definitely say I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. As for Life or Love, I think Sheba and Reno chose Love, but in choosing love, it also gave them Life. Great read! Keep'em coming June!

He always leaves the reader hanging on a cliff with unexpected endings a twisty plot. I love a book that keeps me wondering what's going to happen next. In this story of love, fate, deceit, drugs and money, I felt completely pulled in. This is a lifestyle I could never live but I felt as if I was there myself. Waiting patiently for Part 2.

I loved the relationship between Sheba and Reno. Sheba was definitely a ride it die chick. Reno was about his business but he had a heart. I couldn't put this book down until it was finished. I am looking forward to part 2. June, you did your thing in this one.

Hunted (Demon's Mark 3) is the third installment of an amazing new serial by Nora Ash. I was totally and completely spellbound from beginning to end. The story is exciting, original, dark, powerful, addictive, compelling, thrilling, riveting, arousing and sexy. The dialog is smart, well written and flows smoothly. The characters are imaginative, fascinating and intriguing. I absolutely love it. As a child, everyone thought Selma's strange behavior was just a result of a child's overactive imagination but as Selma grew older and the "hallucinations" continued, her parents worried that she may be mentally ill. She was bounced from one doctor and mental facility to another until she finally realized she must lie to everyone and pretend she didn't see the monsters that seemed to leer at her and follow her everywhere. And for years, she managed to hide it well until she was viciously attacked by them. Now at almost 30 years old, she felt alone, desolate, defeated and very afraid and as a last resort, admitted herself for treatment at Ravenswood House. Little did she know that the monsters she saw were very real and that her new doctor, Martin Hershey was actually a monster himself and had so much more in store for his lovely new patient than just psychiatric therapy. Now he wants her for himself! Will Selma ever be able to escape her "demons" or will one demon be her salvation? Oh my! So deliciously dark and delightfully wicked! I loved it!

It picks up the morning after "Tricked" and more steamy demon sex ensues. But just when I started to think Selma might have given in to Dr. Hershey for good, Ash twists the story around in a completely unexpected way. I'm itching for the next installment now!

By Walrus Lover My 7 year old son is a big minecraft fan, and I am always trying to persuade him that reading books is fun. So what could be better than a book about minecraft? I had purchased a few several months ago that were terrible, and ended up being a real turnoff to reading (exactly the outcome I DIDN¨T want). This one is different. Most importantly, it has a coherent plot! Also, the role of the player as Steve's personal "god" is interesting - it makes for good home lessons about Greek mythology. There are a few gory sentences that I omit when reading with my son. Slightly older readers might not mind them.

By Nancy Finelli Another great story by Tim O'Rourke that is further enhanced in the audiobook version by the narration of Fred Wolinsky. I am enjoying the journey of these characters, especially Zac and his sister, Ana as they discover amazing things in both worlds. The narration is top-notch since each character sounds distinct and unique. Looking forward to more from O'Rourke and Wolinsky!

The sequel reveals the back story of many, giving us better insight to their insanities and hardships. Dakota remains my favorite character. She is naive and wise all at once, and incapable of using contractions. She’s so endearing.Second thing I love: the footnotes. They are just a crack up, laugh out loud funny. My favorite is on pages 110 and 111 (but I won’t tell).And lastly, Vegas. I want him. Who wouldn’t want a talking wolf at her disposal?I can’t wait to see what comes next for the troubled and zany souls of Redford.

I think the writing is so smart and was easy for me to get lost in the story. So much so that now that I have finished the book I miss being with the characters and in the fantastic surroundings in which they cavorted. I am a fan and anxiously await what ever this author writes in the future.

Bianka is dealing with the end of a traumatic/unhealthy relationship and her self worth is in the trash. She gets lucky, and I mean really lucky, when she meets Pista. He proves to be her salvation in more ways than one. No spoilers from me, read and enjoy the story for yourself. Very good story here with a lovely romance. Well done!

I particularly enjoyed the dialog in this book. The internal dialog of Bianka's thoughts were natural and real. Her insecurities, curiosities, fears, and feelings were relatable. The conversations between she and Pista, especially during the most intimate times were crucial and actually gave a positive example of the conversations that what many books of this genre lack (many books often neglect the conversations of safety and truthful conversations about the BDsM in an effort to squeeze in more rawness and perceived sexiness thus promoting unsafe practices and giving unexperienced readers inaccurate ideas of the 'lifestyle'). Pista was charming, dominant, and ultra sexy. The fact that this book also addressed the discomforts or pregnancy as well as the way many mothers feel once their babies arrive also further made Bianka' Baby a relatable story.The last thing that I will say about this bookbis just how smart it is! Grammatically sound, consistent, and articulate. Kudos to Cerise Noble for a hit!

She starts remembering about her journey here. She has a one night stand with Pista and gets pregnant after the condom breaks. After 2 months and lots of partying, she meets up with him again. After sex again, they have a discussion about birth control pills and he learns that she is pregnant. She sees the doctor and she learns that pizza is the father. He is happy to learn that he is going to be a father. Along the way we learn that Bianka was previously in a BDSM relationship that was very controlling. Along the way we learn more about the relationship. We learn that they have a polyamorous relationship. There are very few books out there like this. I love the story and I highly recommend it. I give it 5 stars.

This is a spin off of the main series without breaking away from the plot of the main series with Tan. Honestly its a breathe of fresh air seeing an author do this right by giving us back-story and closure while propelling the main story forward. Absolutely love it!

I like how the author plays with the words and I was captivated from the very first chapter of this book. I am not a huge fan of western horror books but I must say this one took my attention. Gabriel Stassney is very interesting character and this book is a great read for everyone into books full of twists and action. Recommended!

Great Mid Afternoon Adventure By AnakaliaKlemm Werewolves, gypsies, cowboys, and vampires - I just devoured this paranormal western while hiding indoors during the hottest part of the day. If Cormac McCarthy decided to pick up a punctuation habit and tell supernatural tales, it might come out a little bit like this. Except Boley manages something I've never experienced in a McCarthy novel - FUN. Using familiar phrases and titles as chapter headings was a nice touch. Being set in Texas is always a nicer one. From the first line I was transported to the fanciful world of Texas in the late 1800's. Where I found a cast of amazingly well developed characters, the leader of which is Gabriel Stassney. A man's, man and true cowboy. While, told with a bit of nostalgia and homage for the genre, the story never slows down and is packed full of twists, turns, and non-stop action. I look forward to seeing where Boley takes Gabriel Stassney next. Definitely a series I can get behind! ** A must read! **

Good Information / Irritating Presentation By Wandrwoman This slim guide (128 pages) to San Francisco Bay Area and Wine Country packs a lot of information into a small format. This would be a good book for business travelers to the San Francisco area who want to extend their trip to spend 2-4 days exploring the Wine Country.The guide follows Lonely Planet's general 4 section format:-Plan Your Trip: Highlights not to be missed and general area overview and advice-Road Trips of varying duration-Destinations: Details on where to stay, where to eat, what to visit.-Driving Guide: Distances, car rental information, what to do in an emergency, etc.This particular guide suggests 4 road trips that can be done individually or combined variously to suit one's interests and time available:- San Francisco, Marin, & Napa Loop: 4-5 days- Napa Valley: 2-3 days- Sonoma Valley: 2 days- Russian River & The Bohemian Highway: 2 daysAs good as the information is, the graphic design of this guide is just atrocious and is the reason for the 3 Star ranking. It is a hot mess of color, texture and symbol overuse that obscures rather than highlights necessary information. One particularly terrible example is the almost illegible "Need to Know" side bar on page 12. This graphic design fiasco has a red duo-tone striped background with text printed in beige and tan. My eyes still hurt and I wasn't trying to read the text while sitting in a moving car at dusk!This is a guide that is meant to be taken along while traveling. It contains useful information that is presented in a format that is difficult and/or unpleasant to read.

I have several Lonely Planet guide books that I love. Lately, the Lonely Planet people seem to be producing on a bigger scale and maybe trying to do too much with hit or miss results. This particular guide book on the San Francisco Bay Area & Wine Country is a nice overview text to a few areas within the bigger Bay area and wine country. By covering too many areas, it's not really as extensive and inclusive as some of the past Lonely Planet guides have been per location.In any case, ever since I saw Sideways, I've been wanting to plan a trip to wine country and thought this would be the book to help me do that. Turns out this is a bit more compact than I had expected and has more or less provided a simple overview, which is nice, but I will have to get an additional book if I really want to get into the nitty gritty of wine country, which kind of defeats the purpose of getting this book. Although the map of wine country was nice and as usual, their photographs are outstanding, regardless of the limited information.This book includes small itineraries for different areas including the Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley as well as San Francisco and Marin. It provides the basis for seeing the major sites, some accommodation suggestions, eateries, etc. But like I said, I will need another book when I'm ready to go.I think the highlight of this book is probably the focus on San Francisco, which is a bit more comprehensive than the information provided in the road trips section.I have to say I kind of miss the old Lonely Planet style of guide book. I'm not sure why they have changed a formula that was already outstanding.This is a 3.5 star effort but I'll give them a full four stars for the nice images.

Sapiens This is a very small travel guide (nice) but hampered by lack of focus. The title leads you to believe that it will cover...wine trips, but alas you would be better off with a different guide if this is your aim. If you are wishing to travel (not necessarily for wine) the SF Bay Area & surrounding wine country, you would be better served by a different guide. This book tried to do too much and the result is a bit of a chaotic approach to the area.The format is conserved from other LP texts:-Plan Your Trip: Highlights, some of the information is useless. Much of the advice caters to someone overseas - but keep in mind this is a local region Road Trips book not the full SF or N. Cal book.-Road Trips: I disliked this immensely. They were too brief and had some odd recommendations. A lot of the focus was on family friendly venues which are covered in other texts. I did not feel that it catered to people looking for Wine Country road trips. As a local, some of the recommendations were laughable. Some restaurants reviewed require reservations WEEKS in advance. Several of the few wine recommendations were for corporate wineries, which are not reviews I would appreciate in a LP travel book. Give me the gems!The road trips themselves are very brief:San Francisco, Marin, & Napa Loop: 4-5 daysNapa Valley: 2-3 daysSonoma Valley: 2 daysRussian River & The Bohemian Highway: 2 daysLivermore is omitted as well as some of the South Bay wine/hike region.Too much is crammed in this book to make it useful. I do not require knowing about cable cars. I would rather know about pearls within each area. I feel that San Francisco should have been omitted from this book as it is too large an area to cover in such a small book. The text was cramped and the layout was very crammed resulting in a less than useful book. I would recommend instead Fodor's in focus Napa & Sonoma for wine trips or a Bay Area book (LP San Francisco) for general book focused on the region (not wine focused).Bottom line: too much area covered in this tiny book to make it useful, as too much was missed. I do not recommend.
