***Blacklisted is a new adult novella of approximately 20,000 words*** Turning down the advances of local crime boss Joey Genovese not only cost Gabriella her job, but such is his influence that she can no longer hold a job in the city she loves. Just when she thought things can’t get any worse, she gets thrown into the back of an old van by a kidnapper who politely introduces himself as ‘Michael’. While she expects a dirty basement littered with rats, she finds herself confined to an abandoned warehouse converted to a modern loft, with everything she could ever ask for. Handsome and intelligent, Michael is the type of kidnapper she could only dream of. Michael’s parents were murdered by Genovese, and Gabriella is just the right type of bait to help him get his revenge. Killing Genovese is all he cares about. His plan is meticulous, his attitude ruthless. But falling for his hostage was the one thing he couldn’t plan for. Putting Gabriella on the lure just became that much tougher, even with her consent. Genovese runs this town for a reason, and he doesn’t take kindly to those who don’t comply. Eliminating him will be harder than either of them could imagine. Will Michael avenge his parents’ death and grant Gabriella her freedom, or will Genovese finally get what he’s wanted all along?

I love mob stories, but hate violence (yeah, I know, I know... lol). I definitely think that the hero of this story could have approached the situation better, but if he did, we wouldn't have such a fabulous story to read ;)I had some trouble with the beginning, because Michael stalks her and kidnaps her. I found myself being drawn into their love story. An intense attraction brings them together and over time they start to fall for each other. Spoiler here: Michael puts Gabriella in a position, unknown to her, to be kidnapped by Joey. I was rooting for Michael and Gabriella all along, but was surprised at this twist. Once Gabriella realizes this, she leaves him and makes him work for it!I've read many stories where the hero apologizes and the heroine takes him back immediately, so I love that this heroine has a backbone and stands up for herself when she can. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a mob love story to help pass the day by. Easy reading, and pretty original story line :)
