Perfect for fans of the Divergent, Mortal Instruments, and the Maze Runner series. This gripping story is set in a magical world that coexists with our own, filled with suspense, adventure, and romance. The Knights of the Red Branch series is a smart, beautifully told story with rich language, emotional depth, and cinematic action.Only one thing stands between Sin and her knighthood, Finley Connelly - The golden boy of the Red Branch School. Defeating him with his superior Sidhe magic and quick bow is near to impossible, so the school's patroness offers Sin an alternative final exam; to complete a quest in the woods of the Dryad of Death. This is a worthy mission, one fraught with dangers, which is exactly why Finley won’t let Sin go it alone, never realizing that there are greater stakes at play than just Sin reaching graduation. They’ve become pawns in a bigger game, and all sides seem ready to sacrifice them to further their own agendas. When death takes its toll, and Sin has no one but her enemies to turn to, she has to weigh what she wanted for herself against what she must become to survive.Grab your copy of KNIGHTS OF THE RED BRANCH to jump into the adventure!

From the Author Q&A with S.A. ArcherQ: Who is Sin?Archer: Sin is the only 'lesser fey' currently at the Red Branch school for knights. She's earned her way in, a feat very few lesser fey have ever accomplished. Now, her future depends on once more overcoming social and magical limitations to stand among the knights. Her quest, though, only starts there. What begins as personal ambition turns far more intense, with not only her future at stake, but that of the entire fey race.Q: Who is Finley Connelly?Archer: Finley is a complicated character, who goes from a young man with the brightest of futures, through the darkest of transformations. The journey is intense, unexpected, and far reaching. The relationship between Finley and Sin transcends friendship, or even romance.Q: So why Scotland?Archer: In The Sidhe series we spent most of our time in Ireland and on the Isle of Man, where the battle lines are drawn between the fey and the wizards, but there have been hints that Scotland holds some significance and some secret. In Knights of the Red Branch you get to discover a different environment which is far more populated with fey, and hidden agendas, than either side has guessed. It's a magical place, in reality, and makes it the perfect venue for the Celtic magic to thrive in this story.Q: The Sidhe series has been gaining in popularity. Why are you starting a new series?Archer: These characters demanded to tell their stories, which is usually how it goes for us when we are writing. It's the voices of the characters that wake me up in the middle of the night and drive me out to the computer to start typing. Sin and Finley were like this. The novel was written in a month, without any clue as to where it was leading. While this story is powerful, and stands well on its own, it does tie into The Sidhe series, answering questions and with appearances from characters familiar to the fans of that series. Although, it should be noted, that you don't have to have read that series to read this one. Sin and Finley's story also allowed us to write something more along the lines of intense, action adventure YA (young adult), exploring the magic and the danger of this world through fresh eyes.Q: Who are you writing for?Archer: The young adult fantasy and action genre is popular not only with teenagers, but adults that enjoy that perspective of a young person coming-of-age in a difficult time, fighting to establish their identities, and make a difference in their world. Readers of series like Divergent, the Maze Runner, and Mortal Instruments love these types of books that will keep them reading well into the night because they just have to see what will happen next. The outcome is unpredictable and epic.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. great read for anyone who enjoys fantasy. By Sherri S Really, enjoyed this kind of pre story to the Sidhe by these authors. A cameo by the Sidhe Lugh didn't hurt either:) I love how Sin comes across as confident and sure of her abilities and, thank God, not a damsel in distress type. She can do it alone. She is a warrior, not a male or female warrior. Wish there were more stories written this way. Finley was not macho "I've got this". They were real, fun and entertaining as they found their way on this adventure. Can't wait to read more.

Characters reveal ulterior motives and new dimensions open up as the story moves along. I'd like to read more with these characters! I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

By jcat This story actually takes place in a time before the other series, so is in effect a prequel of sorts. This book's length is considerably shorter than the other books, which I find to be disappointing. It would be wise to read the other series first, because some of the characters appear in this story. The World Building is skimpy in this novel, since the background for the society and world has been established in those previous books.I did enjoy the story, although not as much as I did the Sidhe series books. The characters are well developed and the action is magical. And I do like happy endings.
