By Grady Harp Author Katie Ingram was encouraged to write this book because of her own now past habit of Binge Eating. As she state, `I tried time and time again to quit, but it seemed impossible. Some people suggested that WILL-POWER was what I needed to conquer Binge Eating Disorder; but from experience, I know that once the urge to binge comes, Will-Power has little or no effect because you behave like a robot; unable to control yourself until you gratify the urge to binge; after which the feeling of depression and disappointment takes over.'She opens her book with a discussion and definition of exactly what Binge Eating Disorder is: `Binge Eating Disorder has to do with overeating regularly. This is quite different from the normal overeating you do at yourself at a friend's pool party or birthday party once in a long while. When you have a habit of over feeding yourself regularly and you just can't seem to stop eating when the urge to binge comes, know that you have a Binge Eating Disorder. One bad thing about Binging is that you continue to eat even after your stomached is filled, you only stop when you start feeling sick. Each time you binge, you always have this depressed, disguising feeling about yourself as an aftermath. Once the Binge is triggered, you feel like a robot, because at that particular time, you have little or no power to control yourself, or stop eating.'In this very practical, reality oriented book Katie offers her game plans for ceasing this disorder. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Help for the binge eater By Doug Erlandson When Katie Ingram asked me to write a review of "Be Binge Free" I was happy to do so. Like Katie, I had suffered from Binge Eating Disorder. As I read her book, what she said rang true to my experiences during period I had the disorder. At the start Ms. Ingram notes that overcoming this disorder is not a matter of willpower (unlike what some have suggested). Binge Eating Disorder is an addiction, one of several food-related addictions (e.g., anorexia and bulimia). Those who suffer from this addiction do not plan to go on an eating binge, nor do they begin to eat with the intent of bingeing. Rather, once they start they eat compulsively and find themselves unable to stop.As Ms. Ingram explains, Binge Eating Disorder arises from a variety of causes, including depression, low self esteem, stress, negative turn of events, emotional or physical abuse, and extreme dieting. For me, it was the last of these causes. Having lost more than 100 pounds as a young adult, I had become a marathon runner. Eventually I became obsessed with weight and ate far less than I needed to adequately sustain me. Eventually my body rebelled. One day I inexplicably went on an eating binge. A couple weeks later the same thing happened. Before long, they were becoming more frequent, until at its worst, I binged three or four times a week.My story is just one of many. However, people with Binge Eating Disorder are not without hope. In the last three chapters of her book, Ms. Ingram provides helpful suggestions as to how to overcome Binge Eating Disorder and the temptation to continue the pattern of destructive eating. The reality is that Binge Eating Disorder can be overcome, as Ms. Ingram's personal story shows.

And I promise that this would be my last read on this problem. I'll take my time and implement all instructions posited in this book and I know it'll work for me. Thank you so much.
