That perfect balance between two characters and a situation that draws them together? Even the names are inspiring and wonderful! You pick up any of Renee George’s books and read it, and you’re not dragged along through the story, you’re fighting not to turn to the end because you want to see what happens. You are gently guided along, drifting through the story as not just someone intruding on the pages but someone being invited to sit beside a warm fire on a cold winter day, with a hot drink in your hands and a loving embrace to warm you back up again.The fear and angst and yes even sadness and misery these two men share with each other is heart breaking, but it does end on a good note! I promise! The daring escapades get your heart racing, the tender moments get bring you nearly to tears but the ending? That’s like licking the plate after a delicious dessert! I wish this were a longer story, and that it went on for hundreds of chapters! Although I’m sure my poor kindle doesn’t as I was up way too late finishing the book in one go! I seriously cannot CAN NOT wait for the next book to come out!

Marty is Jay’s younger brother (Jay is the owner of The Other Team – a gay bar and featured in two of the previous books in the series.) Chris is the manager of Jay’s bar.Marty lost his best friend and career as a military man 2 years ago in Afghanistan. He’s been through rehab and is making his way again in the world. He’s back to visit Jay when Chris gets the news that his estranged father has just died.For some reason, Marty (who previously only identified as straight but in his head as bi-sexual) is drawn to the pain he sees in Chris. His own loss and need perhaps make him understand where Chris is coming from.Chris doesn’t do relationships so he knows getting involved with the boss’ brother – in any way – is a bad idea, but… He’s so lonely and needs someone who cares about him – if for just this once.The two end up going to Chris’ dad’s funeral and starting up a relationship, despite the odds.In book 2 – we see the continuation of this relationship as it stands the test of time and distance.Can a die-hard one-night-stand- man make a relationship work? Do the two of them even have a relationship worth saving?**These are short stories that read better when read all in order. All the MCs play a role in the other stories and it really helps to set the stage.What I love about these is that, even though they’re short, each vignette is a solid glimpse at the couple at a crucial time in their relationship. I love that the other MCs are involved and it plays out like a family drama type story.The smexy times are super hot, but the relationship stuff still holds the priority.In her book the author explains why the names have changed – but it’s the same storyline.These are highly recommended for fans of hot, sweet, short, sexy and alpha stories.4.25/5 stars

I was glad to get a visit from previous cocktails couples. I like keeping tabs on my boys! As usual I can't wait for the continuation of all the stories in this series.
