About the Author Rikao Yanagita dropped out of his science studies at Tokyo University to become a full-time cram school teacher. In 1991, he started a private cram school, only to find he had no managerial talent whatsoever. On the edge of bankruptcy, in 1995 Yanagita wrote "The Fantasy Science Reader," which applied scientific-sounding explanations to famous science fiction and fantasy characters and situations. It became a national bestseller. In the 20 years since Yanagita has made the Reader into a popular series, full of ridiculous illustrations and even more ridiculous theories.

Harmon Rikao Yanagita writes scientific pieces based around science fiction, fantasy, manga and comics and things of that ilk but this is the first thing I've had the pleasure or reading. The Science of Attack on Titan is a look at how the manga of the same name would realistically translate into the sciences of our world. When I got this it was more for my 14 year old son than myself. I am a huge fan of anime and manga and I had watched the Attack on Titan anime and enjoyed it just fine but I was no where near as enamored with it as my son and a huge throng of others who obsess over this story. That being said I did enjoy this book it was entertaining and don't tell your kids but it's also very educational. The Science in it is very sound and well described and I can see some kids actually learning some science while reading it then again a lot of it may go over the heads of others. People young and old who actually love science and are fans of the material may truly love the book and I recommend it to kids of all ages who love anime and manga and care about the science behind it.

My middle school daughters have actually learned a few scientific facts thanks to the way he explains certain aspects. Great book. Highly recommended.

By Gabriel A lot of the math kind of escaped me, I tried to follow along as best I could. But I love that someone took the time to ask these questions and tried to answer them. How much kinetic force would be generated behind a titans fist they were to throw punch at another titan? How much energy would they require to function and were do they get their energy if they only seem to eat people just to kill them and not for food? How do they reproduce, and where do they come from?
