Claremont's best since 2006 By Robyrt Refreshing, heartwarming, and silly, starring obscure villains of the past and obscure heroes of the present, this conclusion to the Nightcrawler miniseries is tons of fun. If you liked Claremont/Davis Excalibur, or '80s X-Men, you should pick this one up too. The vast majority of the book is set in space, fighting slavers and space pirates, together with some side characters from Amazing X-Men. Swashes are buckled with abandon, inspirational speeches are given, and generally Nightcrawler learns to put his past behind him and get back to the business of being a hero. The art is pleasant and vaguely cartoony, a perfect fit.The only misstep is a new love interest for Kurt, who comes completely out of left field, with basically no character development past "these feelings are real, I swear, it's not just because we both like to slice mooks up with rapiers". Expect Bloody Bess to get dropped like a hot potato by the next writer. Still, a great close-out to a series which had the potential to get pretty dumb after the antics of Vol. 1.
