A Western Spanks, Stand-Alone Story

Clay Brooks only wanted to do right by his neighbor’s pretty daughter. Tess Armstrong is pursued by overzealous suitors, and when one threatens her, Clay steps in with an offer of marriage. In exchange for his protection, he’ll gain valuable water and grazing for his cattle. From the beginning the terms of the arrangement are clear. Theirs is a marriage in name only. But soon Clay wants more. Much more. When Tess puts herself in danger, Clay shows her exactly how far he’ll go to discipline his untouched bride. From Chapter 3 The maid stopped halfway down the stairs, her eyes wide. Clay held Tess by the arm and was taking her upstairs. Not part of his original plan, but what he needed to do. “You’re finished for the evening,” he said to the alarmed servant. “And tell the cook to leave too. Everyone out.” She hurried away without a word and Clay continued up the steps and down the hall. “I let you have some freedom for the first month of our marriage, but that’s over. You’ll be living with me now.” He stopped outside his door and looked down at her. He should feel badly for the terror he saw in her eyes, but he didn’t. Opening the door, he drew her in, keeping his grip on her arm. Once inside, he released her, slammed the door and locked it. Her face was pale and her eyes wide. She backed away from him, edging around the chesterfield, trying to keep her distance. “There is something precious to me that you haven’t been caring for.” She gripped the material of her dress, looking bewildered. “The stallion?” “Not the stallion,” he bellowed. “You! Tess. I don’t give a damn about the horse. He’s a three year old. Never been under a saddle, and you, a hundred pound girl, is the first rider to get on him?” She lifted her chin. “I’ve broken horses before. My father let me do whatever I pleased. My mistake was asking Jim for help.” He slammed his fist down on the back of a chair. “I don’t care what your father allowed. I won’t permit you to get on any horse that hasn’t been ridden by me first.” She shook her head. He stared at her incredulously. Did she dare to argue? “I’ve ridden all my life,” she said quietly. He crossed the room and snared her, looping his arm around her waist and carrying her to his bed. She twisted in his arms and tried to free herself, but he tightened his hold. He set her down beside the bed and pushed her chest down into the comforter, pinning her with one hand between her shoulders. “You didn’t tell me the horse threw you,” he said softly as he leaned over her. She panted beneath him. Every nerve in his body hummed with a savage need to claim and possess her. He wanted to tear her dress from her and sink into her. But he needed to show her something that was beyond debate. Something final. “You can walk around town in boots and trousers, little girl.” He pressed her down with his chest and spoke in a whisper next to her ear. “You can drink with Clarice at the Magnolia if you like.” He gathered her skirts in his fist, lifting them. Her lips parted as her breathing became more frantic. Brushing a kiss across the shell of her ear he inhaled her scent and groaned. He pulled the weight of her skirts up to her waist and brushed his hand over the curve of her bottom. She closed her eyes as he tugged her pantalets down. “But if I tell you not to handle a horse until I know it’s safe,” he murmured, stroking the soft bare skin. “You better damn well do it.”

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Western romance novel with protective alpha. Highly recommend this spanking story! By Amazon Kindle Junky I loved this book. I also love this author’s western romances. Not all of them, but I did love this one.So we start with the heroine and hero meeting in saloon to catch up on things. Heroine suggested this place to meet. Hero demands he meets with her weekly to see how she is doing. We find out during introductions that the hero and heroine have a marriage of convenience. After the heroine’s father passed away she had bunch of vulture males circling her to marry her for her inheritance. Things got ugly with one of them that forced her protective foreman to ask for help from hero. Heroine was neglected by her father so the foreman is more like father to her. The hero is the one that suggest the marriage of convenience to the heroine. He needs to use some of her land for his cattle and she needs the protection. However, the hero did not realize he would have to start having strong feelings of attraction and possessiveness towards the heroine when he suggested this marriage of convenience. He is older so he saw her as kid at first. Now he is trying to see how he can go about getting her to agree to change their status quo.Heroine on the other hand is having the time of her life. She is doing whatever she wants. She has nobody to answer for and has been given carte blanche by hero to do as she pleases knowing she has his protection. So she does. She takes full advantage of her freedom. Goes about drinking at saloons, breaking in mustangs, dressing as a male and running her own place. Unfortunately, she gets herself in too deep with the last mustang she purchased. She ends up hurting her beloved foreman and feels real guilty. The hero had offered to help her when she bought it but with price. I am sure you can imagine what price that could be;) She finally agrees due to feelings of guilt. However, she has this belief she can get hero to back off once she gets to his place. Even wears a dress for the first time to impress hero into buttering him up to her way of thinking.Fortunately for us, she was so wrong and thank goodness for that. Hero lays down the law and pretty much tells her that their agreement has been null and void when she went about harming something he considers his. (You have to read the book to see what I mean ;) Things pick up from here. Hero realizes the heroine is beautiful woman and perfect for him. She just hide it very well. The ending and epilogue were so sweet. I highly recommend this book. Give it 5 starts!
