Some secrets are nightmares By Kitty Smith Adrianne and her friends never go up Clover Lane because of the urban legend about a hundred year old mass ax murder that supposedly happened in the forest. Her father once took her up the hill because it was the quickest way to get home, back before he vanished from her life, but that was the last time she traveled Clover Lane. Until today. The further she goes along the isolated road, the more she wishes she'd listened to the nursery rhyme her mother used to sing that warned children away from Clover Lane.Marina Richard's short YA horror story reminds me of the creepy urban legends we used to scare each other with when we were growing up, except it's a whole lot scarier! There will be no excited giggling at the end of this story, which starts out easy but picks up speed at a deadly pace. It reminds me of some of the short stories by Stephen King, not the writing style but the way things start out innocent enough and then your worst nightmare unravels. Great story, though you may never take another shortcut through the forest ever again after reading it!

The creepy tale is one you'll remember and tell for ages to come. No one goes down Clover Lane. The loggers, who paved it's way through the vast forest, slaughtered one another. Since then, the woods have held a haunting glow.A young teenage girl was told never to go into the woods by her mother while her father told her it was a shortcut home. Not long after, her father disappears without a trace. She makes the choice to go down Clover Lane....Marina Richards is incredible with her descriptions, solid horror story, and it's the perfect length for a campfire tale. I hope there is a sequel giving us more information about Clover Lane and it's victims. Check it out!

In this dark and well-crafted tale of terror Richards reminds us that the scenic route isn't always as charming as it is supposed to be. Add to the mix a deserted cabin, a found skull, and a few other nasty surprises and soon enough the best of days takes the worst turn imaginable! I found this story to be a fast-paced ride into the unknown, and a must-read for anyone contemplating a walk alone through the peaceful countryside. An adventure in scary that will leave the reader wanting to know what the author is going to come up with next!
