Faith kept me Plain. Science made me complicated.
Book 3 in the Grounded TrilogyNow that I'm a special agent for the rebellion, I can’t hide what I am anymore. I’m a Spark, genetically engineered to be electrokinetic. Along with my boyfriend Korwin, I am also the Liberty Party’s best hope of stopping Dr. Konrad and the Green Republic from developing a new generation of biological weapons.
When our mission to destroy Dr. Konrad’s work goes awry, the side effects of a brain-altering chemical in my system become problematic. It’s more important than ever that I protect the people I love. But the more I try to help, the more I seem cursed to hurt everyone around me.

The characters are richly developed and respond to circumstances as we would expect--except when they surprise us! It takes a talented mind to blend Amish, dystopian, and science fiction elements along with action and suspense, and Ching gets the job done.I love a good story, and this YA novel will appeal to more than just teens. Parents can read and discuss with their teens, since this story raises important questions about ethics and values.

Kept me on my toes. The character development is strong. I find myself genuinely rooting for these characters. A little Amish, dystopian, and paranormal are wound together in this book--truly unique to Ms. Ching's mind and her ability to create and deliver. And deliver she does. I don't normally like dystopians or anything resembling them, but Wired and the other books in this series are approachable to even a reader like me. Highly recommend to people looking for a different kind of read.

The characters were ones, that if real, you'd like to be around instead of whiny, snotty brats. They used their brains, but were still young adults. The series showed growth for both of the main characters, but the growth was reasonable for the action and timeline. The ending was good in that it was happy but not perfect--there were consequences for the characters' actions. I'll definitely read more from this author.
