An adulterous husband, Carl, and his cloying wife both find themselves in situations they can’t escape. Tightly-written and chillingly real, this futuristic story is a treatise on character, and on action and consequence. Another compelling offering in this top quality series from Paper Road Press. Highly recommended.Note: I am a subscriber to this series via its publisher.

Couples like Carl, the protagonist By Debbie Dark and unsettling, Pocket Wife is a gripping futuristic tale where the rich can buy miniature replicas of themselves that can be switched on to share their consciousness. Couples like Carl, the protagonist, and his wife, Jenny, can keep their pocket-sized spouses with them so that can stay connected when apart. It's an arrangement that seems a little 'uncanny valley' creepy at first and gets a whole lot worse when pocket-Jenny malfunctions and can't be switched off.
