Revolution is over. The war has begun. Cyclops and his Uncanny X-Men are tired of the hunt. After another near-fatal Sentinel attack, they take the fight to S.H.I.E.L.D. Maria Hill claims she doesn't know who's building the Sentinels - but she hasn't stopped them, either. She's relying on Dazzler, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mutant liaison, to help defuse the situation. But Dazzler lies incapacitated in Mystique's headquarters -and Mystique makes a convincing imitation! And where is Magneto, the former head of the mutant movement? Then, it's an Original Sin tie-in as Charles Xavier's last will and testament is discovered, but what' concealed within its pages might be the X-Men's ultimate undoing! Could a previously unknown power now be their greatest threat? How will the Uncanny X-Men cope with the shadows of Xavier's past? COLLECTING: Uncanny X-Men 19-25

Never A Dull Moment For The Uncanny X-Men By Slim Cat This volume contains issues 19-25.The adventure keeps on rolling here as Bendis and crew make the X-Men a real fun read with this title and All-New X-Men.Issues 19-22 are the VS S.H.E.I.L.D story. Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Magik have their own band of X-Men hidden away at an old weapon X facility and have a bunch of new mutants under their wing, training them to harness their powers and not take the hatred of humans. Going back to issue one/volume one of this series Cyclops' group has been attacked by sentinels repeatedly, and in public areas endangering the lives of everyone and giving bigots of mutants fuel to blame the uncanny evolutions that they are the problem. It was soon discovered that S.H.E.I.L.D had been making these sentinels, but whether director Maria Hill is behind it or not Cyclops is furious regardless that Hill and S.H.E.I.L.D would allow it and not try to investigate it and stop it. He declares war on S.H.E.I.L.D.Bendis really nails all the characters in a very large cast and gives each one time to shine. This story was really well done and he built up to it's resolution very nicely over the course of this series. The subplot of Mystique kidnapping Dazzler, impersonating her, and using her to make Mutant Growth Hormone on the island of Madripoor comes to a turning point as well. I like that Magneto comes back helps things out and even shows some restraint in dealing with his anger. Bendis writes a fascinating Magneto and I cannot wait to read his solo series written by Cullen Bunn, which shows off his dark side though. Should be a good read. Chris Bachalo handles the art work on these four issues with his usual cartoony flare. His art has really become a staple of this series and fits with the awkward and jarring nature of the X-Men to begin with.Issues 23-25 are the Last Will And Testament of Charles Xavier and a new setup for the X-groups. Over in All-New X-Men Vol. 5: One Down, there were some shocking revelations made about Xavier and more are revealed here. It is almost a staple of any X-Man writer to give Xavier some dirty history or do something shady from Stan Lee to Chris Claremont, to Scott Lobdell to Grant Morrison, to Mike Carey to Joss Whedon. Bendis has not revealed all the cards here, just some of the actions Xavier has done, but not the why, and there are sure to be more surprises to come. It is a blast that She-Hulk is given the Will and has to round up all the feuding X-Men and get them to hear his will. The interactions between different members is great. Bendis does better with this group than his street level Avengers squad sitting around eating and squawking, and that is if you like that kinda thing which I do, and hopefully by now fans have figured out whether they do or not to bother continuing on or not. Dazzler goes through a change after feeling so used and violated by Mystique as well that was fun and heart breaking development. It all sets the ground for some really great things to come. First two issues are handled by Kris Anka in a more stylish pop art style and Bachalo returns for the finale.Really a big payoff volume for fans following Bendis' X-Men run with a lot of cool twist and turns and just plain fun. Complemented wonderfully by some over expressive art which makes it all the more enjoyable. Bring on more Xavier scandals and the Omega Mutant!

Wells Collecting: Uncanny X-Men (2013) #19-25Bonus: Digital EditionCyclop and his secret school have barely had time to train (see Uncanny X-Men Volume 3: The Good, The Bad, the Inhuman ) before they find themselves declaring war on SHIELD. Author Brian Michael Bendis continues an action packed run on the Uncanny X-Men that had me breathless at each turn. This book contains two story arcs, both of which are excellent. In the first story, Cyclops and his students find themselves under attack by Sentinels. Events spiral into a truly epic battle between both teams of X-Men (All-New and Uncanny) against a SHIELD Helicarrier with a surprise ending. Bendis weaves the battle against SHIELD with an emotional story that finally sees reunion with Dazzler.Issues #23-25 contain the story arc "the Last Will and Testament Charles Xavier". We learn of a mutant so powerful that Professor X had to go against his own ethics to contain him. But what will happen now that the Professor is dead? The Professor's will and testament sets up the story that will be continued in Uncanny X-Men Volume 5: The Omega MutantArtist Chris Bachalo renders some amazing panels. The MGH addicted Blob was a showstopper. And the brief glimpse of Darkchylde was among the darkest and most compelling visions of her that I've seen. Kris Anka's Dazzler transformation panels are also not to be missed. The new angry Dazzler is jaw-dropping.

Greenagel Jr. Bendis's work on this X-Men title has been improving over the last year (the other, not so much), and this is a good story. Like his Avengers, Bendis clearly has his pet characters. Clearly, the X-Man he finds most fascinating is Scott Summers (who has followed a Shakespearean tragic arc with the death of Jean Grey, his killing of Xavier and the return of a younger Jean Grey). The story moves well and the dialogue is entertaining. We are continuing to deal with the aftermath of the death of Charles Xavier (I'm sure he'll be back by 2016 though) and in this volume the will is read. I can't remember specifically reading a major comic where the will of a character is read, but I know I have. It doesn't feel very original. The Avengers fought SHIELD a while back, and now it is the X-Men's turn. Heroes vs. heroes was always DC's thing, but now Marvel seems to be moving towards having heroic showdowns now as well (SHIELD aren't heroes, but they are part of the heroic status quo). In my comic reading history, I've read X-Men vs. Alpha Flight, X-Men vs. the Avengers (2x..1987 and 2012), X-Men vs. the Fantastic Four and now X-Men vs. Shield. I'm sure I'm missing some fight in there.Magneto hangs in the periphery, and I'm hoping that Mr. Bendis will eventually bring him to the forefront of the stories. In my opinion, he is the most interesting of all the characters.
