This is a great follow up to the first in this series that came out two years ago .. during which time Scott has written other works.Fast paced action, interesting new characters. The bad guys are bad and the good guys are good. A solid study of how the best and worst in people and society comes out or will come out, if anything like an EMP happens, or society breaks down for any of a dozen good reasons.It was great to catch up with Mitch and April and pick up the story line of these star crossed lovers .. hoping, as a reader, to see them finally, finally get together in a troubled and harsh new world.The new characters, especially the old guy who knows how to pole a canoe up stream against a strong current, were a great addition to the story line. I'll look forward to reading more about him and his injured son.I have read pretty much everything Scott B. Williams has written .. fiction and non-fiction and have enjoyed them all. A great author. He never disappoints me.He is one of the very best SHTF / post apocalyptic authors in the business, and I have read dozens of authors in this genre. Scott is at the very top of the list.Way better than average proof reading also. I noticed only one typo in the entire book, not one per page that I seem to find in so many works of this type.Great read. Looking forward already to the next installment.Check all of Scott's other works out. You'll enjoy them all. I have.Devon

This guy can obviously write but this book takes place in one day, endless backstory and descriptions that go on and on. When I read apocalyptic fiction I want a faster pace than this!

The characters are very real and so easy to embrace. "Longbows Rule!" Yes, I have a bias involved as I love shooting my own longbow too. That said, I highly recommend this book, it's a great addition to the genre. The author writes well, offers excellent settings, and does a superb job of developing characters that draw you into the story. If this is your introduction to Mr. Williams work, I'm sure you'll be downloading his other books, as I have.
