First Class High school drama By Juliet B Madison Rowan Murdoch is finally beginning to come out of her shell following a break-up with her old boyfriend, high school athlete, rich brat and all round popular guy Mark Evanston. She & her friend, Morgan, both audition for the role of Juliet in the senior year drama production of Shakespeare’s classic romantic tragedy. But Eddie, the guy who plays Romeo, once fell afoul of Rowan’s sports coach father so the road to romance looks to be anything but smooth. Then Rowan is forced to confront the real reason why she and Mark broke up and finds herself at the centre of a vicious campaign to discredit her. Can she win through or will it forever drive a wedge between Rowan and those she cares about most?Tricia Drammeh writes with raw honest about teenage troubles and feelings; an honesty which brings her characters to life and has you rooting for them. I really can’t understand why this YA author does not get the kudos she deserves.

By Maegan Provan I was fortunate enough to get an ARC and a chance to beta read the next novel from one of my favorite people in the universe.Sweet Sorrow has been in the works for a while now, and I have to say that I am so glad that Tricia has finished it. Rowan, the main character, is a damaged young woman. Daughter of the head football coach at her school, she hides a dark secret about her ex, who happens to be the former star of the team in her dad's eyes. After a summer of hiding under her covers as a result of her tragedy, Rowan decides that she has to attempt to go back to some kind of routine in her life. This comes in the form of auditioning for the senior play. She finds out that her new crush is also auditioning, she worries that she'll not be able to concentrate enough to land the part.Eddie is a troubled player that gets kicked off of the football team after some property damage at a party lands him and a few other players in jail. With all hopes of his sports scholarship dashed, Eddie turns to his secret talent of acting in an attempt to earn a scholarship that way.The two form an instant connection after being cast in the roles of Romeo and Juliet. Their love builds quickly, but Rowan continues to hide her secret. It's only a matter of time before Eddie finds out.Tricia Drammeh has a knack for contemporary fiction. She understands people on a level that seems to fail so many authors. There is a sort of honesty behind how each character speaks and behaves within her stories, it seems like the cast of her novels are just plucked off of the street. Sweet Sorrow touches on victim mentality in a way that very few have been able to honestly capture. The way that she coveys Rowan is wonderful. I don't think that I have ever personally that was actively dealing with PTSD, but the way she has written it makes it very believable without being over the top. I wouldn't say Rowan is my favorite character that she's ever written, but definitely top 5. The way that Rowan's growing strength and inner turmoil are presented drew me in. I will say that the subject of rape is covered in this book and if you're easily offended by it, or are concerned about a "trigger," this book might not be for you. Otherwise, an absolutely stunning novel by Tricia Drammeh that you have to read.Thank you, Tricia, for moving forward with this book. You are truly amazing.

By Joleene Naylor Tricia Drammeh is one of my favorite authors because she writes awesome books, and this story was no exception.Rowan harbors a tragic past; one night changed her life from a cheerful drama girl into a fearful zombie. After months of "dropping out" of the world, the senior play entices her to come back - just in time to notice Eddie, a hot senior football player who has trouble of his own. When she lands the part of Juliet to his Romeo she's ecstatic, but is he really the bad boy everyone thinks he is, or has he just gotten a rough deal being one of the few poor students in a rich school?Tricia's ability to write real characters continues to astound me. Rowan, Eddie, her father, any one of these people could walk right out of the pages and drop into the world next to you and fit right in. She is so good at capturing the personalities and nuances of the people she writes about. She also captures the pettiness of high school - the good, the bad, and the in between: that time when getting a zit or dropping you notebooks in the hall was the most embarrassing thing that could happen to you - and then she gives her characters something real to deal with. They don't respond in a too mature way, like so many YA books that leave you thinking "What? no way would a 17 year old do that!" but they also aren't annoyingly immature, either. That's why Tricia remains one of my favorites.
